As a Corporate Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Director, you will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and driving comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs across all facets of our organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Supply Chain Officer, you will lead strategic initiatives and actively partner with Operating Company leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, mitigate risks, promote a culture of safety, and drive continuous improvement in environmental sustainability practices across Duravant and its Operating Companies.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Planning and Program Development:

  • Develop and implement corporate EH&S strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Identify emerging EH&S trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to proactively address potential risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Operating Company teams to integrate EH&S considerations into business operations, product design, and supply chain management.
  • Develop and implement EH&S best practices and policies that can be scaled across the Operating Companies

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay abreast of local, state, federal, and international EH&S regulations applicable to our industry and ensure compliance across all company facilities and operations.
  • Coordinate and lead regulatory inspections, audits, and permitting processes.
  • Establish effective monitoring and reporting systems to track compliance metrics and performance indicators.

Risk Assessment and Management:

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement proactive measures to minimize workplace accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents.
  • Partner with Finance and Insurance to reduce insurable risk and work with insurance providers to understand and address key areas of risk
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures to ensure preparedness for unforeseen events.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and breaches of EHS protocols, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Training and Education:

  • Develop and deliver EH&S training programs for employees, contractors, and stakeholders to enhance awareness, knowledge, and skills related to safety protocols, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
  • Foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility through regular communication, engagement initiatives, and recognition programs.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of EH&S programs and initiatives.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management, board of directors, and regulatory agencies on EH&S performance, compliance status, and improvement opportunities.
  • Utilize data analytics and benchmarking to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence in EH&S management.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional certification in EH&S management (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in corporate EH&S management, with at least 5 years in a multi-facility leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of relevant EH&S regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ISO standards) and industry-specific requirements.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing EH&S programs, driving compliance, and achieving measurable results.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders, build consensus, and drive change across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data-driven insights for decision-making and performance improvement.
  • Ability to travel internationally 75% of the time
