Job Description

Are you an exceptional people leader with a HSE background and extensive experience working collaboratively with operational teams to drive results?

Are you excited by the opportunity to lead a Safety and Environment Team to deliver effective and compliant HSE performance on a large, complex and growing manufacturing site?  

Are you interested in being a member of a dynamic and energised extended Leadership Team who are driving an ambitious strategy focussed on our team, our ways of working and future site development so we can grow together?  

We are looking for a Safety and Environment Manager to join our Huddersfield Manufacturing Centre. We have approximately 450 employees and we are investing in our infrastructure, ways of working and capabilities of our teams to support our site growth.

Qualifications

Reporting to the Head of HSE, you will be expected to drive improvements in the Safety and Environment performance for site, including:

  • Leading / managing the safety and environment team to drive improvements in S&E performance for site, including the enabling of local area HSE improvement plans.
  • Providing technical HSE support for the utilities, infrastructure, and non-operational areas, ensuring all relevant assessments are completed and up to date.
  • Working closely with other members of the HSE team to ensure collaboration, effective delivery of HSE services to the site, and continuous improvement of team and site HSE performance.
  • Providing main focal point for the competent authorities (CA), managing this relationship and all interaction with them. Managing all communications with the CA including COMAH report, inspections, and any request for further information.
  • Ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with UK HSE Regulations and the Syngenta HSE management system.

  • Salary – competitive & negotiable
  • 37.5 working hours per week Mon – Fri
  • 3.5 rota days off over Christmas + hours bank of 41 hours to use throughout the year for occasional time off.
  • Generous Holiday Entitlement of 31.5 days plus bank holidays
