Job Title: Vice President of Facilities, Capital Planning and Sustainability
Location: Family Focus- Loop Office
 

The Vice President of Facilities, Capital Planning and Sustainability will work with our 12 locations across Chicagoland, representing nearly 170,000 square feet of agency-owned and rented space. In this role, you will operate in both a strategic and hands-on manner to ensure our ability have sustainable physical space to execute our mission of providing services to individuals in the entire family unit.

 

Reporting to the CFO, the accomplished candidate will have successes in capital and facilities management for multiple sites, understanding the nuances of non-profit agency and regulatory requirements. The candidate will be an effective leader with the ability to navigate organizational initiatives, stakeholders' requests, infrastructure upgrades, sustainability initiatives, and compliance and prioritize accordingly.

 
Primary functions for this role include:
 
Strategic Planning and Project Management
  • Defines, executes, and advances comprehensive short-term and long-term strategies for facilities maintenance, space planning, capital projects, and sustainability. Manages, monitors, and prioritizes ongoing projects.
  • Evaluates the conditions of existing and potential agency sites to determine construction and/or renovation requirements. Oversees the development of specifications for new facilities construction, repair and modification projects, working closely with vendors and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serves an active role in the vendor RFP process, vendor selection, and ongoing management of project vendor relationships.
  • Manages vendor diversity initiatives and processes for the entire agency.
Facilities Operations, Compliance and Safety
  • Ensures the organization's physical environments meet compliance, cleanliness, and safety standards for all team members, participants, and visitors, providing locations that are operationally sound and promote high performance.
Talent Development and Management
  • Cultivates and leads a highly skilled and dynamic team. Ensures best-in-class service delivery and fosters a culture of collaboration, accountability, learning, and professional growth.
Fiscal Management and Stewardship
  • Effectively allocates and manages financial and other resources to support and advance the improvement, maintenance, safety, and sustainability of the infrastructures and facilities across our locations.
  • Creates high-quality service delivery environments as well as inclusive and positive working conditions.
  • Manages the procurement processes for operational needs for each center.
 
Candidate background and abilities should present with the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution (e.g., facilities management, architecture, engineering), with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience leading and managing large-scale capital construction, facilities, and sustainability operations OR
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution (e.g., facilities management, architecture, engineering), with a minimum of five (5) years of experience leading and managing large-scale capital construction, facilities, and sustainability operations
  • Experience in managing complex, multi-million-dollar budgets, preferably in the non-profit or public sector
  • Familiarity with social services and early childhood education program and compliance requirements
  • Experience managing procurement processes for daily and long-term operational needs
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with a service orientation and successful record of effective community, stakeholder, and team member relations and high performance
  • Strong knowledge in operations and maintenance management, construction management (i.e., design, project management, and construction), with applicable building codes, OSHA regulations, NFPA regulations, and EPA regulations to include green building standards
  • Knowledge of environmental sustainability and green building practices
  • Excellent communication and solutions-oriented negotiation skills, especially with respect to consensus building, presentation of ideas and plans, and management
  • Committed to continuous improvement and resilience with a highly collaborative and collegial working style for use in navigating and prioritizing multiple requests
  • High degree of integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness with a positive approach toward working with diverse individuals with varying learning styles, needs, and perspectives

Expected Salary: $135,000 - $150,000/year.
