Status: 12-month maximum fixed term full-time position (35 hours per week) - The position will commence from 29 July 2024.

Salary: $69,821 - 76,733 per annum, plus 11% superannuation

           

Are you a driven and enthusiastic student looking to gain experience in Development Assessment? Randwick City Council has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Student Planner in their penultimate year of their Bachelor of Planning studies to join the Development Assessment team on a temporary full-time basis for up to a period of 12 months.

In this role, you will gain solid knowledge, exposure and hands on experience from working alongside professionals within the industry. As a Student Environmental Planning Officer, you will collaborate with, and assist Council’s highly skilled team of Development Assessment and Senior Assessment Officers. Daily duties can include:

  • Assisting with the preparation of a variety of development application types relating to a wide range of land uses.
  • Attending meetings and site inspections with internal and external stakeholders to provide input and gather feedback.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

As a Student Planner, you will be:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Masters program in Urban Planning.
  • Have a basic understanding of the planning legislation including Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. 
  • Have strong analytical skills, time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Sound problem solving, multitasking and negotiation skills. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and keen desire to learn Council’s software such as TRIM, Pathways, Bluebeam and the NSW Planning Portal. 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. 
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service. 
  • Commitment to EEO, WHS and the principles of a culturally diverse society.
