Freedom Solar Power is looking for a Total Rewards Specialist. The ideal candidate will have a background in payroll processing for multistate weekly payroll deadlines for a midsize or bigger company. In addition to payroll, this position will be responsible for the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, and 401(k) plan. Working alongside the Total Rewards Director, you must have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and be able to work in a fast-paced work environment. This position will work on-site out of our Austin, TX Headquarters (78744).
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Review, edit, and approve employees’ timekeeping through ADP before processing payroll.
- Follow up with employees/managers for missed punches to ensure appropriate allocation of labor.
- Gather and enter payroll data and timesheets promptly which will be reported to the Payroll Team.
- Work with company database systems to prepare and submit weekly payroll using ADP Workforce Now.
- Research discrepancies, audit, and work with project teams to resolve issues before payroll.
- Receive, enter, answer, and maintain garnishments by federal and state requirements.
- Work directly with employees to answer questions regarding their benefits and total rewards.
- Support the team with the administration of open enrollment (annually in January), wellness fairs, and other benefit-related events.
- Open enrollment meeting, termination, and changes in benefits portal for participants in all benefit plans.
- Monitor staff members' eligibility for benefits programs, particularly as employment status changes.
- Process, document, review, and qualify leaves of absence requests company-wide (medical, work-related, personal).
- Serve as liaison between HR/payroll and third-party administrators for processing of disability requests.
- Function as liaison with a third-party vendor for COBRA and mandatory notifications.
- Stays abreast of changes in existing laws, rules, regulations, and best practices applicable to employee benefits and leave.
- Manage and facilitate FMLA & NON-FMLA, as well as other leaves as applicable to the company policy and relevant laws.
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years related payroll and benefits experience.
- Proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of employee benefits and laws.
- Outstanding knowledge of MS Office and Google Workspace.
- Prior administrative experience is strongly preferred.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent, 3+ years experience in an office environment, HR and/or benefits administration.
