Accounting Manager

Terms: Regular full time, Exempt

Business hours: Full-time work during business hours in the range of 6 am - 7 pm Mon-Fri

Location: Eligible for hybrid remote working according to Eureka’s Remote Work Policy, at least 3 days a week onsite required 

Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000

Benefits: 100% paid health insurance for the employee, life insurance, and long-term disability. (Other insurance lines available at a shared or employee cost.) PTO and paid holidays.

Primary Purpose

Eureka Recycling is currently hiring an Accounting Manager to manage and/or perform the various cycles of accounting, general ledger, and administrative work of the Accounting Department and to contribute to accounting and financial process improvements.

 Job Responsibilities

Accounts Payable:

  • Prepare cash flow analysis and make recommendations to Director of Finance for weekly accounts payable processing · Oversee AP data entry and workflow
  • Oversee Purchase Requisition workflow
  • Work cross-departmentally with managers and directors to ensure AP process is flowing smoothly
  • Ongoing analysis and process improvement of Eureka’s Accounting Software System and Third Party Vendor Systems.
  • Responsible for timely payment processing of organizational billing, processing all ACH and Check Payments
  • Set Up New Vendors (W9) and Process Credit Applications
  • Track COI (Certificate of Insurance) compliance with vendors and contractors

Accounts Receivable:

  • Work collaboratively with Business Development department to ensure sales orders and AR process is flowing smoothly
  • Review aged receivables and report out to Directors
  • Contact customers as needed to ensure timely payments
  • Month End Closing:
  • Reconcile all Eureka bank accounts
  • Reconcile prepaid schedules
  • Prepare journal entries (payroll, recurring general journals)
  • Manage fixed asset and debt schedules
  • Track and manage inventory · Reconcile all Balance Sheet Accounts
  • Audit preparation
  • Prepare all month-end financials to present to Director of Finance for review

General Management:

  • Supervise the work of accounting support staff, including temporary employees or interns
  • Document internal department and cross-departmental workflows and update procedures as necessary
  • Support development of training and documents for Eureka staff on workflows and procedures intersecting with the Accounting Department
  • Work across departments to identify, research, and propose process improvements and efficiencies that intersect with the accounting and finance and budget functions of the organization
  • Identify, research and propose technology solutions to support organizational efficiencies and processes that intersect with the 

Accounting Department

  • Maintain training documents on workflow and procedures as it relates to the Accounting Department
  • Provide customer service and strong communication to internal employees and external clients
  • Follow established policies, methods, and procedures when processing and maintaining financial data and records
  • Resolve problems by researching and analyzing relevant data
  • Other job responsibilities and projects as assigned by the Director of Finance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • BS in Accounting or 3 to 5 years’ experience in a full cycle accounting position
  • Working knowledge of accounting and business software (Sage Accounting, Microsoft Office)
  • Able to effectively manage multiple on-going projects simultaneously, to prioritize and balance the tasks of the day in relation to larger project deadlines and immediate needs, giving attention to detail and striving for excellence
  • Highly organized, detail oriented
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in handling highly confidential information
  • Deep problem-solving ability
  • Professional communication skills used to correspond with vendors, customers, and employees
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Values the role of non-profit organizations in changing systems to improve our economy, environment, and community

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • 2-3 years’ experience with managing or supervising a team

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to use a PC/laptop, requiring repetitive motion of fingers, hands and wrists
  • Required to occasionally move about in an office environment to access file cabinets, printers, etc., and remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift light materials and equipment in the typical office environment (up to 20 lbs.)

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
