Job Description

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time and society must reduce greenhouse gas emissions at an unprecedented speed and scale.  Approximately 25% of global emissions comes directly from industry with steel, cement, and chemicals the most significant sectors. Innovations at the nexus of industry, environment, energy, and digital systems can unlock new paradigms for prosperity and at the same time significantly reduce emissions.  This research internship will consider industrial decarbonization, smart systems, and electrification to unlock new insights and solutions for sustainability.

 

Schneider Electric is seeking a highly motivated and talented Computer Science and Sustainability Intern to join our team in Boston. This unique internship is designed for individuals passionate about climate action and sustainability at the intersection of digital arts and industry. The ideal candidate will have a background in Computer Science and Chemical Engineering, with a keen interest in leveraging technology to drive sustainable practices within the digital and industrial sectors.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and code innovative software solutions that contribute to sustainability initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability into digital arts and industrial applications.
  • Utilize existing models and frameworks to analyze data and improve energy efficiency.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of systems that reduce environmental impact.
  • Engage in research and development projects that align with Schneider Electric's sustainability innovation.
  • Contribute to the creation of digital tools that aid in the visualization and understanding of complex sustainability challenges.

This job might be for you if:

  • Background in chemical engineering, particularly process simulation
  • Currently pursuing or a degree in Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in coding languages such as Python, Matlab, or similar.
  • Experience with machine learning, data analysis, and software development.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices and principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Background or familiarity with chemistry and/or chemical engineering is a plus.
  • Want to design and create tools at the nexus of sustainability and digitization
  • Have a passion to make a difference for the future of our planet and society
  • Outstanding documentation skills
