How you’ll make an impact…
The Senior EHS Specialist will communicate and contribute to the development of EHS programs, policies, and training.  This sustainability role has primary responsibility for execution and maintenance of EHS programs that manage, mitigate, and where possible, eliminate EHS risks to Niowave’s employees, contractors, facilities, and communities in which the company operates.
 
What you will work on…
  • Collaborates closely with Radiation Safety team to assure alignment between Rad Safety and EHS policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update EHS policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Develop standardized environmental and safety compliance tools that will educate and assist management teams to better identify and correct safety hazards.
  • Manages training and inspection programs to ensure compliance with applicable occupational EHS standards.
  • Monitors and ensures optimal performance of Environmental Health and Safety programs.
  • Conducts on-going data and risk analyses to trend and identify known and/or emerging EHS risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Leads continuous assessments of EHS hazards and risks and provides assistance where specific technical expertise is required to meet applicable regulations, policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Leads the incident investigation processes (including near-miss/injury); conducts root cause analysis, prepares investigation report results, identifies and implements corrective and preventative measures to eliminate repeat incidents.
  • Ensures the actions and activities to minimize and manage workers’ compensation claims and associated costs are understood and followed.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and People Operations on annual training plans and required EHS training; develops and manages the EHS training program; delivers appropriate EHS training; ensures training records are maintained.
  • Effectively builds and maintains collaborative relations with all levels of the organization; positively influences and gains buy-in for high engagement and desired outcomes.

  • None.  Functional authority.
What you need to succeed….
  • Strong understanding and experience in EHS Management Systems and their successful implementation; Substantive knowledge of applicable EHS regulations.
  • Strong technical ability to work, collaborate and negotiate with government officials, consultants, and other third-party stakeholders.
  • Ability to write complex correspondence, regulatory compliance reports, engaging training materials along with excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Resilient self-starter, who expertly performs in both a team-oriented, collaborative environment and independently.
  • Highly values integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • Full-Time, Salary/Exempt position.
  • The company’s standard operating hours are Monday thru Friday 6a – 6p with production related activities requiring 24/7/365 shifts. 
  • This position will have regular working hours during M – F with an expectation of adjusting to meet with managers and employees working outside of the standards operating hours as needed. 
  • Niowave has multiple locations within the Lansing area.  Travel between locations is expected in the role.
