Job Description

To keep pace with Mazars’ international sustainability success, evolving regulation and market sentiment, Mazars in South Africa is seeking an experienced sustainability senior manager to join our team. This role presents an excellent opportunity to grow your career whilst helping our clients navigate and positively contribute to the sustainability agenda.   We are looking for an experienced senior manager, specifically with a strong and proven record focus on ESG Due Diligences.  

This role offers a great opportunity for an experienced senior manager to build the business, train the team, manage sustainability projects and extend their expertise to our broader offering.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • The team lead for ESG DD service offering
  • Providing technical consultation support to reporting and assurance teams
  • Delivery of high-quality client and internal reports on the DD value chain
  • Understand the investment cycle for ESG integration.
  • Develop proposals and take an active role in the business development activities including prospect meetings, preparation of proposals and project plans.
  • Support in the further development of our advisory/consulting offering
  • Facilitate strategy sessions at C-Suite level.

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on ESG standards, data, and trends.
  • Analyse ESG data, evaluating its quality and performance to draw insight useful for investors and decision-makers as an authority on the subject.
  • Create thought leadership and engagement tools, presentations, and documents for private market investors and other stakeholders.
  • Engage with clients and partners in the financial sector to help them understand ESG.
  • Ensure policy and regulations compliance and play a key role in advisory projects.
  • Be creative in generating ideas and recommendations in pursuit of new and improved products and services.
  • Be proactive and independent in task management and contributing to the objective sector and decision-maker as an authority on the subject.
  • Have a strong analytic mindset and exceptional reporting and writing.
  • Ensure policy and regulation compliance and play a key role in advisory projects.
Minimum Requirements

Candidate requirements:

  • Relevant post-graduate qualification essential (sustainable development, business, finance or accounting)
  • Knowledge of the universal frameworks on sustainability and integrated reporting frameworks and standards highly advantageous
  • Confidently hold C-Level client engagements
  • In addition to the technical qualifications, experience and/or qualifications in a business management-related field would be beneficial (e.g. financial, change management, strategy etc.)
  • A minimum of 5 years focussed ESG DD experience for private and listed entities
  • Commercially focused and adept in applying your sustainability knowledge to differing client situations.
  • Good business developer with a good network within the ESG value chain
  • Commitment to the B-BBEE transformation agenda
  • Ambition to grow withing Mazars and participate in working groups
