Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an Environmental Project Coordinator to join our growing Western Canada environmental team.

The right candidate can work locally from our Calgary, AB office; plus AECOM can provide hybrid work options to give the flexibility you need to do your best work. This is a Full-time position.

The role at AECOM will be a combination of project management and technical work delivery, though the work can/may vary based on the applicant’s experience and career aspirations. You’ll have the opportunity to work on various multi-disciplinary and high-profile environmental and civil projects. The immediate opportunities will likely focus on supporting oil and gas clients and ongoing remediation programs.

This position is ideally suited to a junior to intermediate environmental engineer or scientist with aspirations to develop their project management strengths. This position will primarily support acting project managers as a project coordinator manager on large ($100k - $2M project budget) multidisciplinary environmental projects in environmental site investigation, remediation; and reclamation.

Additionally, there are opportunities for candidates who would like to continue to build their technical background to have access to training and career opportunities if of interest.

Technical work may include:

  • Preparation, coordination, and participation in field programs to collect and analyze outstanding data gaps for design advancement.
  • Preparation of documentation for projects: technical letters, memorandums, and reports.
  • Supporting permit applications
  • Socioeconomic reporting
  • Development of Digital tools

Project coordination responsibilities may include:

  • Technical and quality coordination
  • Supporting the Site Supervisor with logistics and planning
  • Procurement of subcontractors
  • Scope and budget tracking including contractor tickets, waste, safety metrics, etc.  
  • Ensuring all field data has been uploaded by the Site Supervisor and subcontractors daily.
  • Supporting permit applications
  • Strong emphasis on safety

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering (Civil, Chemical, Environmental, etc.) or sciences discipline: Environmental Sciences, etc.
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

2 + year of experience in remediation and/ or reclamation projects coordinating Phase I, II, and III Environmental Site Assessments and Remediation including:

  • Experience with regulatory applications and documentation in AB
  • Technical writing and preparing technical documents, such as reports.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Project, Excel and Word

2+ years of project coordination experience including:

  • Provided support to on multi-disciplinary projects to coordinate project deliverables.
  • Safety and logistics coordination for field programs.
  • Quality management: demonstrated ability to follow internal processes and help projects be compliant.

Personal Attributes:

  • Highly developed written communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills; conduct with integrity, work within multi-disciplined teams, dealt with complex issues, and maintain effective working relationships.
  • A high level of initiative and enthusiasm for getting things done.
