Job Description

We are currently seeking a qualified Environmental Compliance Officer to join our Infrastructure team, based out of Toronto, ON. The Environmental Compliance Officer will be responsible for supporting the Environmental Compliance programs and providing technical and administrative assistance to Field Services teams and other functions on environmental policies and programs and have the opportunity to work with the Integrated Delivery Partner project team on the Ontario Line, Metrolinx subway project. Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Working in collaboration with stakeholders to monitor contractor activities for environmental compliance within assigned areas
  • Reviewing mapping of environmentally sensitive areas, determine potential impact due to construction activities and monitor field compliance 
  • Collaboratng with internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate/manage environmental risks through field inspections and monitoring
  • Consult with appropriate agencies regarding environmental issues and monitor regulations
  • Inspection of project sites to ensure environmental compliance with the regulatory standard and procedures
  • Monitor, log and report on environmental requirements of the project, escalate critical items as required

Qualifications

  • Degree in Environmental or Geological Sciences or Engineering (or similar field of study) 
  • 5 to 7 years of environmental/industry work experience in construction industry
  • Experience working with Provincial (Ontario) and Federal environmental regulatory agencies and knowledge of Municipal. Provincial and Federal regulatory requirements
  • Excellent leadership skills to act as a role model, promoting a positive influence on the work of others through demonstration of technical expertise and effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish collaborative and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
