Environmental, Health and Safety Manager
Description


Epsilyte is seeking a highly motivated and self-driven Environmental, Health and Safety Manager for a key leadership role in our Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) manufacturing operation. The EHS Manager is responsible for supporting the leadership team in developing a strong EHS culture and owning the health and safety programs and training. You will be responsible for identifying risks and evaluating, developing, and administering safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors in coordination with federal, state, and local regulations. 


Position Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop and manage a team of environmental and safety professionals to assure EHS excellence is achieved and maintained at the site 
  • Serve as a member of the Site Leadership Team with key responsibilities including Culture, Protecting Base Business and growing our competitive advantage
  • Manage risk and oversee EHS programs, thus ensuring that a safe working environment is maintained for employees and visitors  

                     Programs Include, but not limited to:

                                 · Title V Air Compliance

                                 · Process Safety Management/RMP

                                 · NPDES Storm Water Management

                                 · RCRA Waste Management

                                 · USCG MTSA Security

  • Oversee implementation and execution of policies, compliance systems, and best practices
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met and positive relationships with external stakeholders are in place
  • Coordinate risk assessments, recommend corrective actions, and assist in gap closure
  • Actively participate in community and regulatory activities, including the Community Advisory Panel and other EHS-related organizations and compliance programs
  • Work with government officials on audits, permits, and improvements to programs
  • Set direction for the facility including capital expenditures and EHS improvement plans
  • Allocate financial, employee and contractor resources in an effective and efficient manner
  • Be a positive change agent and implement continuous improvement strategies that yield sustainable results
  • Other duties as assigned or interested


Requirements


 Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of practical EH&S experience, or commensurate experience
  • Outstanding knowledge of safety policies, programs, and procedures
  • Working knowledge of EH&S regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA) 
  • Strong leadership skills and capability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software, plus outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to lead a team are essential for success
  • Physical ability to work in an industrial environment, including wearing PPE and occasional climbing of stairs and ladders

Preferred Background or Experience: 

  • BS in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of Health and Safety experience in a management position in industrial setting
  • 5+ years of experience with developing and managing EH&S programs
  • 5+ years supervisory experience
  • Experience working with local, state, and federal agencies
  • Experience conducting root-cause analysis incident investigations 
  • Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA)
  • Knowledge of Environmental Programs; Title V, RCRA, DOT, NPDES SWPPP, and SPCC
  • Knowledge of Safety Programs; PSM/RMP, NFPA, OSHA VPP
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other technologies
