Lab Supervisor - Environmental Testing

We are looking for a full-time Lab Supervisor to join our team of environmental testing professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental testing methods and procedures, as well as experience in managing a team of Engineers/Technicians.

Responsibilities:

  • Initiate Testing Projects: Receive project kick-offs from the Lab Manager and Sales.
  • Technical Liaison: Collaborate with customer representatives to resolve technical queries and ensure alignment.
  • Team Supervision: Provide guidance and support to test engineers.
  • Instrumentation Design: Develop instrumentation and control strategies for tests, adhering to the companies technical procedures and ISO17025 quality standards.
  • Test Execution: Set up and execute tests, especially during the ramp-up phase.
  • Customer Reporting: Regularly communicate testing project updates to the customer.
  • Report Generation: Create comprehensive test project reports and submit them to the Technical Manager for review.
  • Equipment Support: Assist in commissioning new test equipment and perform calibration tasks.
  • Equipment Monitoring: Continuously monitor and identify correct operation of test equipment and cables, promptly reporting any failures.
  • Equipment Needs Assessment: Identify laboratory equipment requirements and inform the Laboratory Supervisor for procurement.
  • Safety Compliance: Take immediate action and report any safety violations or concerns.
  • Operational Excellence: Maintain a high standard of work by adhering to 5S principles and demonstrating a dynamic, proactive work approach.

The Person:

  • Minimum 3 Years in Test & Measurement: Ideally, more than three years of experience in test and measurement, particularly with electro-mechanical shakers and adherence to national or European standards.
  • Experience with the following standrads would be highly advantageous: IEC 60068-2-6, IEC 60068-2-64, IEC 60068-2-27, IEC 60068-2-14, as well as Additional standards for environmental and combined testing
  • Customer-Centric: Customer-first attitude and effective customer relations skills.
  • Project Management: Capability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Automotive or High Voltage Experience: Experience in automotive or high voltage products is a plus; however, training can be provided.
  • Proficient in PC and Software Usage: Proficient in operating PCs and related software, with a focus on Microsoft Word, Excel, and Automated Test Software. Basic programming skills are advantageous.
  • Accurate Record Keeping: Ability to precisely record test results and generate comprehensive test reports.
  • 5S & Continuous Improvement: Strong understanding of 5S principles and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Proficiency in problem-solving and the capacity to distribute work effectively within a team.

Rewards:

  • Salary dependent on experience within a range from £40k - £55k
