JOB SUMMARY
As a member of the Marine Operations Department, the Environmental Compliance Manager supports the Director of Compliance, Vice President Fleet Support, and Vice President of Fleet Operations with all marine operations-related activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Establish and monitor the Company’s Sustainability Plan and other environmental qualifications for the fleet, such as:
    • · 2050 net-zero carbon plan
    • · Science Based Target Initiatives (SBTi)
    • · Green Marine
    • · IMO GHG emission reduction framework
    • · USCG E-Zero designation program
    • Manage fleet ‘Conservation & Sustainability Initiatives,’ to include verification of practices across all company departments.
    • Monitor fleet metrics for adherence to environmental policies and plans, to include providing regular performance reporting to management.
    • Assist with voyage plan develop and review to ensure adherence to regional environmental regulations, such EU ETS regulations, restricted discharge zones (Puget Sound, Canada, Mediterranean).
    • Participate in Emergency Response Team drills and training.
    • Be trained as an ISM auditor, in order to participate in/conduct internal audits and participate in external audits in offices and on vessels.
    • Be trained and assigned as a deputy DPA to enable a rotating on-call schedule.
    • Coordinate with Ocean Guardian to keep the fleet informed of current Company, Local, State, National, and International Environmental Regulations.
    • Prepare, submit, and maintain registration forms, information, and reports for the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) Solid Waste Disposal and Wastewater Testing Program for the Fleet Vessels operating in Alaska.
    • Arrange wastewater sampling training and sampling events with Testing Laboratory and ADEC.
    • Prepare, submit, and maintain registration forms, information and reports for the EPA Vessel General Permits for the Fleet Vessels operating in the USA.
    • Assist the Director of Compliance with revising the environmental policies and procedures for the company.
    • Establish and maintain documented procedures to cover situations where your absence could lead to deviations from the company environmental policy.
    • Establish and maintain procedures related to the identifiable significant environmental aspects of goods and services used by the company.
    • Assist the Director of Compliance with establishing and maintaining procedures for identifying and responding to accidents and emergency situations, and for preventing and mitigating the environmental impacts that may be associated with them.
    • Review and revise emergency preparedness and response procedures after the occurrence of accidents or emergency situations.
    • Provide input and follow up to Fleet Scorecard.
    • Assist with periodically testing emergency preparedness and response procedures.
    • Assist the Director of Compliance, VP Fleet Support, and VP Fleet Operations, as necessary.
    • Attend environmental related meetings, briefings, and seminars both in the office and outside, as required.
    • Assist with employee training, as necessary.
    • Follow up and resolve Non-Conformity Reports/Corrective Action Reports as needed.
    • Attend and participate in Emergency Response Team meetings and drills.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • BA/BS degree in applicable field preferred.
    • Previous experience in the marine industry and/or shipboard experience required.
    • Must be familiar with the ISM Code, MARPOL, and SOLAS standards and systems.
    • Previous experience with auditing procedures and a background in environmental sciences preferred.

OTHER SKILLS / ABILITIES

    • Strong Project Management skills.
    • Strong skills in word processing, data entry, typing, and organizational filing.
    • Computer skills in the Windows operating system and word processing and spreadsheet applications.
    • Strong skills in time management, handling multiple tasks, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines. The ability to work independently as well as with others in a team environment.
    • Frequent travel may be required.
    • Must be able to obtain passport and can obtain necessary visas for overseas travel.
$85,000 - $94,000 a year
This position is eligible for a 7.5% annual bonus.

Using the English language, this person must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend policies, legal guidelines, correspondence, and memos.   Must also possess the ability to effectively communicate--both in writing and orally--with a professional demeanor. 
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear.  The employee will also be required to write and type.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.  

COMPENSATION STATEMENT
Lindblad Expeditions determines the pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data. We evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company. Our posted salary range is based on national data and may be refined for a candidate's region/town/cost of living.

For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant’s location, level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
