Job Description

The Environmental Manager collaborates with North American Environmental Health and Safety Department personnel to ensure consistent knowledge, implementation and execution of regional E,H&S policies, procedures and strategies. Position is responsible for site management regarding the establishment of Environmental objectives, plan activities to achieve those objectives, and integrate them into the site culture. This position plans and drives all phases of the plant environmental program to ensure compliance of the program. 

The Environmental Manager will:

  • Be responsible for the site Environmental objectives, plan activities to achieve those objectives, and integrate Environmental into the site culture.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records that meet regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing Environmental programs and practices through reviews and data interpretation.
  • Develop, implement and administer environmental control designs, methods, procedures and compliance programs.
  • Be responsible for correcting environmental controls and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide follow-up to ensure implementation of corrective action recommendations.
  • Deliver training programs in accordance with Environmental aspects of the EH&S Plan.
  • Participate as needed with plant safety committees and teams.
  • Assist Regional EH&S staff in the quantification, evaluation and control of employee exposure to potential occupational health hazards such as: chemicals & materials, noise levels, radiological sources and other environmental and human factors existing in the workplace.
  • Drive the completion of occupational health-monitoring activities to meet regulatory requirements for environmental aspects such as asbestos, silica, and lead.
  • Execute strategies to engage the plant leadership team and the plant workforce in maximizing the environmental performance.
  • Point of contact for state and federal agencies inspections.
  • Lead pollution reduction teams and activities undertaken by the site.

The Environmental Manager will be responsible for Site Compliance:

  • Efforts regarding waste management under Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), California Hazardous Waste and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Efforts for reporting and controlling air emissions as required under the Clean Air Act (CAA). Including source test programs, deviation reporting, notifications related to Tile V.
  • Efforts through inspecting and reporting required by storm water discharge and wastewater discharge permits regulated under the Clean Water Act (CWA).
  • Efforts regarding hazardous chemical reporting under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) and the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA).

The Environmental Manager should have:

  • Experience executing all phases of the plant environmental program.
  • The ability to anticipate, identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices through work site knowledge, collaboration with cross-functional team, employee interactions and work site inspection.
  • Knowledge to Measure, audit and evaluate the effectiveness of environmental controls and programs.
  • Experience delivering applicable facility environmental training including: Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC), RCRA and DOT.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 3-5 years’ experience managing Environmental activities, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Title V regulations and permitting is preferred
  • Preferred experience with New York Hazardous Waste Management regulations, managing continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS) Continuous Opacity Monitoring systems (COMS) and emissions control equipment (Baghouses, Electrostatic precipitators, SCR, CCF and others).

Additional Information

Salary Range:  The expected salary range for this position is between $95,000 and $110,000 and includes a possible 12% quarterly incentive bonus.    Actual pay will be adjusted based upon candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
