Description

OVERVIEW:
The Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for developing and implementing safety procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all team members. The ideal candidate will have the ability to guide, instruct, and inspire team members while establishing a culture of safety throughout the company.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and manage the environmental health and safety program to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment
  • Directly supervise 2 environmental health and safety specialist 
  • Manage continuous improvement efforts for health and safety initiatives and standards
  • Ensure all team members have the appropriate safety resources to be effective and safe in their role
  • Maintain and train on our Injury and Illness Prevention Program
  • Develop relationships with management to create mutually rewarding safety improvement plans
  • Manage site environmental health and safety teams, including the Emergency Response Team (ERT), Ergonomics Committee, and Spill Response Team
  • Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly metrics/reports to identify trends and/or areas for improvement
  • Standardize health and safety to remain consistent and thorough in our efforts
  • Manage team member safety and health training to comply with our IIPP and applicable regulations
  • Support the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Develop and maintain routine regulatory reports required by the various environmental permits, conduct required activities to maintain the permits, and file reapplications necessary to meet business needs.
  • Oversee investigations of all accidents and near misses to ensure root cause, containment, and corrective actions are completed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage, lead, and develop staff members (This position has 2 direct reports)
  • 7+ years’ experience in an Industrial/Manufacturing setting in a full-time safety role
  • OSHA 30 General industry, OSHA 500 & 5119 required
  • Knowledge of 29 CFR and Title 8 regulations as applied to manufacturing required
  • First Aid, CPR & AED certifications, must be willing to lead in an emergency event
  • Experience with blasting booth and painting operations, in-depth knowledge of respiratory protection
  • Forklift trainer certification (prior lift experience is required)
  • Previous Electrical or Solar installation experience preferred
  • LEAN concepts with emphasis on 7S
  • Self-driven, willing to work alone or as part of a team on assigned tasks and initiatives
  • Ability to work split shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed
  • Demonstrated computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of California State Air Permits, SPCC and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Programs, and Waste Management required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of rules, regulations, and requirements that help protect the worker’s health and safety
  • Working knowledge of injury prevention, compliance, and risk reduction

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The EH&S Manager spends most of their time either in an office environment or at a manufacturing facility but may also spend time visiting customer sites. The office is an open and collaborative space where work is performed both independently and with the team. When in a manufacturing facility, work is performed in a more traditional manufacturing environment, with higher noise levels and frequent movement of people and equipment. The customer sites vary and may be in fairly remote rural locations, with possible extreme weather conditions

 

 

LOCATION:
Construction Innovations facilities and offices are located in Sacramento, CA, and Mather, CA. This role will be at the manufacturing facility in Sacramento, CA.

 


COMPENSATION:
A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $72,700 - $112,400. The actual amount offered within this range will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience, and other relevant job-related factors.  It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
