Senior Environment Specialist

Your Day to Day
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental Specialist to join our EHS team at the Waltz Mill location in Madison, PA.

In this position, a Senior Environmental Specialist can expect to be responsible to:
 

• Demonstrate leadership and make sound environmental compliance decisions.
• Use your knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 to implement and maintain the environmental management system.
• Oversee waste, water and air compliance while maintaining in-depth knowledge of federal, state and local environmental protection regulations.
• Prepare and maintain environmental permits including NPDES.
• Act as liaison between local, state, and federal regulatory organizations.  
• Maintain qualification to respond to chemical or environmental emergencies as well as ship hazardous materials and waste.
• Coordinate the activities of, and provide direction to, contractors and supplemental resources.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships to provide supplemental assistance for environmental matters.
• Prepare briefs, reviews and consult with management on environmental concerns and objectives.
• Develop and/or administer appropriate training programs.
• Analyze program costs and recommend improvements to reduce cost or improve efficiency.
• Assess and manage environmental risk.
• Review audits and conduct inspections of facility operations to assure compliance with procedures, policies and regulations.

Who You Are:

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution for environmental science; or in a physical or biological science, public health, safety sciences or management, and
• 5+ years of applied environmental management experience in a program similar to that of the Waltz Mill program.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience coordinating work between multiple organizations.
• Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, and make decisions, solve problems, and exercise good judgment.
• Strong communication skills, including ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Must be able to pass a comprehensive security background check and pass a drug/alcohol screening test.
