Description

  

HELIX Environmental Planning, Inc. (HELIX), an employee-owned California-based environmental consulting and planning firm, is seeking an Environmental Planner for our Sacramento County office, located in Folsom. 

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, you’ll have the opportunity to be involved in the research and preparation of environmental documents in compliance with CEQA and/or NEPA for a wide range of projects, including private sector residential, commercial, and industrial development; parks and recreation facilities; water/wastewater, stormwater, and energy/utilities facilities; transportation infrastructure; educational facilities; and fuel break, vegetation management, and habitat restoration. In addition, the position may support HELIX’s noise, air quality/greenhouse gas, and other discipline specialists in conducting field work and in the preparation of technical studies. Training will be provided.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and strong research, writing, mathematical/scientific, analytical, and verbal communication skills. Writing will comprise a major part of the responsibilities of the position. This individual must have the ability to coordinate effectively with multiple project managers, and to prioritize and complete high-quality work within specified deadlines. Attention to detail, including strong spelling, proofreading, and organizational skills, is required. This position will require you to be in the Folsom office a minimum of four days per week for the first 90 days of employment at which point a hybrid work schedule can be considered.

Hourly wages will be based on qualifications, years of experience, and or education level. Expected starting pay range of $28.00 to $36.00 per hour, with a robust benefits package.

Requirements

  

Minimum Requirements for the Environmental Planner:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in environmental studies, environmental science, geography, natural science, environmental engineering, public planning, or a related field 
  • At least one year of related professional work experience in the research and writing of CEQA and/or NEPA documents or supporting technical studies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language 
  • Strong research, mathematical/scientific and analytical skills 
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Able to commute to the Folsom office a minimum of 3 days per week (4 days per week for the first 90 days)

Additional qualifications considered a plus:

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in environmental studies, environmental science, geography, natural science, environmental engineering, public planning, business, or a related field
