As a Sustainability Recycling Specialist, you will be a key player in collecting information about waste-stream management and sustainability practices to inform and educate various decision-makers. You will also be a key representative for the company in a number of community organizations focusing on positive public relations. Responsibilities include creating marketing and outreach media, such as brochures or websites to communicate sustainability issues, procedures, or objectives and creating or maintaining plans or other documents related to sustainability projects. You will also be maintaining, analyzing and interpreting various reports.  This position also fosters and maintains positive working relationships with our customers and community stakeholders by participating in various local charitable and business organizations.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Compile tonnage data for diversion reporting and other reports as required for contract compliance.
  • Understand relational database management system to run queries
  • Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal, public speaking and writing skills
  • Ability to sell services to customers
  • Ability to train and educate the public on environmental programs
  • Communicate effectively with small and large groups of people about the company’s plans and programs
  • Effectively plan and coordinate various events and activities

Qualifications

  • The position relies heavily on positive public relations as well as reporting numbers and the ability to sell our services
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience
  • Work well in a team atmosphere
  • Strong computer skills and dispute resolution skills
  • Experience in delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • BA/BS degree in Business, Communications or Environmental Science
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
