Description

Position Summary:

Primary duties of the NEPA Environmental Planner are to provide technical NEPA guidance; preparation of NEPA documents, preparation, planning, managing, and/or analysis/review of technical studies; other writing assignments as necessary; assistance with public outreach activities; and oversight of all aspects of environmental projects including scope, schedule, and budget.

Essential Functions and Requirements:

  • Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of small to large multidiscipline projects with a high degree of technical complexity.
  • Prepare and review technical analyses and documents, proposals and/or qualifications information.
  • Perform financial management of environmental planning, permitting and compliance tasks and projects.
  • Provide support and expertise for environmental planning and permitting.
  • Maintain an understanding of emerging regulations and industry requirements.
  • Work closely with business development and project delivery teams to win and deliver projects.
  • Developing execution strategies for planning and permitting projects
  • Mentoring staff to expand their understanding of technical and business aspects.

The incumbent must be able to operate a computer and other office machinery, operate a motor vehicle, move about to accomplish tasks, have the ability to repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers and transport items weighing 20 pounds or less to move items from one area to another.

Travel:

Occasional local and occasional overnight travel may be required.

Work Environment:

Occasional visits to project areas and exposure to outdoor elements, rough terrain, and extreme temperatures may be required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Seven (7) years of experience in the environmental field
  • Knowledge of the Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act
  • A valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or related field
