POSITION: Staff Environmental Scientist / Geologist / Engineer

LOCATION: Walnut Creek, CA


POSITION SUMMARY


The Staff Scientist/Geologist/Engineer is an entry to junior-level professional who has gained a broad working knowledge and experience in performing environmental site assessments, analyzing and evaluating environmental data, writing technical reports, and contributing to the Site Mitigation team’s growth. In this role the Staff Geologist will begin to independently manage projects and take on additional responsibilities within the team.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates and performs field activities associated with project tasks as directed. Field tasks including sample and data collection, measurements, inspections, and data recording construction and related tasks
  • Maintains or exceeds applicable utilization goals
  • Obtains and adheres to the Company required Health and Safety Training Program and Practices
  • Work towards independent management of projects and the completion at least two ASTM Phase II ESAs per week, or an equivalent deliverable under appropriate supervision. Includes Field and Report Work
  • Prepares proposals and reports
  • Develops subcontractor relationships and on-boarding of subcontractors
  • Maintains or exceeds applicable utilization goals
  • Obtains and adheres to the Company required Health and Safety Training Program and Practices

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Approximately 0-5 years of previous experience performing environmental due diligence investigations (Phase IIassessments), and completing site characterization and remedial investigations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong business acumen
  • Flexibility to work in a team environment and as an individual contributor and project manager
  • Willingness and ability to perform a wide range of project tasks, as necessary (i.e., client management, cost estimating, business development support, field work, report writing and review, etc.)
  • Ability to think critically through a project from conception to completion
  • A self-starter, resourceful, with an attention to detail and the ability to work productively and independently on multiple projects under strict deadlines
  • Current OSHA 40-hour "HAZWOPER" training certification strongly preferred
  • Additional Health and Safety training a plus

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or higher, in geology, civil or environmental engineering, hydrogeology, geochemistry, or similar field required

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS

  • GIT or EIT certification a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The work environment may be both indoors and outdoors. Indoor work takes place in a typical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Outdoor work requires the ability to effectively perform work in all types of weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, type, handle office and/or field equipment, speak and hear. The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, balance, kneel or crouch. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus.

Salary Description
$66,560-$70,000 per year
