About the Role:

This position will help drive IPS Adhesives safety by controlling HS&E programs and initiatives for Newcastle upon Tyne site. The HS&E Advisor will support general duties including regulatory compliance, investigations, audits, and training.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Advising and assisting on the best practice of Health Safety and Environment controls and implementation of initiatives as part of our continuous improvement commitment
  • Partner with the Operations Director to recognise hazards and prevent injuries.
  • Assess potential health and safety hazards.
  • Assist in incident/injury investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • To assist in the design and delivery of HSE training programs throughout the Company to ensure compliance against HSE standards, not limited to new hire orientation, compliance, COSHH
  • Perform daily Safety-Focused Work Inspections of machinery, chemicals, emergency equipment and evacuation as required by the site procedures.
  • Participate and support program driving participation, data entry, evaluation, and reporting.
  •  Participate in shift meetings.
  •  Maintain training records.
  • Act as a coach of safety matters and answer questions assisting associates, supervisors, and contractors on HS&E related matters.
  • Update safety charts and reports as necessary.
  • Assist with contractor safety requirements.
  • Educate and train project team members in safety requirements, best practices in incident preventions.
  • Assist with preparation of hazardous waste shipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • NEBOSH qualified.
  • CertIOSH would be an advantage.
  • Proven track record of dealing with all the Health, Safety and Environmental issues relating to a manufacturing/industrial organisation. You will hold core skills such as effective risk assessment, COSHH assessment, accident/incident investigation and implementation of pro-active problem-solving techniques.
  • Knowledge of environmental, health and safety policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements
  • Manufacturing and/or warehouse experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups
  • Organisation and time management skills
  • Continuous improvement approach to processes
