Job Description

We are looking for an Analyst to join the Infrastructure & Sustainable Energies (“Infra & SEG”) team in India within the Real Assets Group. The incumbent will be a key contributor to scaling the India Infra & SEG business and will be actively involved in analysis and execution of new investments and asset management of existing India portfolio.

Role-specific Accountabilities:

Analyze And Execute Investment Opportunities:

  • Research, analyze and evaluate a variety of investment opportunities in the Infra & SEG sector
  • Assist in developing the strategy for new sub-sectors within the Infra & SEG sector
  • Assist in analyzing past and projected financial performance, quality of management teams, investment merits and risks, expected returns, regulatory environment, industry dynamics and other relevant factors, including macroeconomic factors
  • Build and review complex dynamic financial models to evaluate investment opportunities. Perform valuation analysis, including DCF, precedent transactions and comparable company analysis
  • Assist in engaging advisors and carrying out third party due diligence (commercial, market, legal, accounting, industry strategic reviews, regulatory, environmental, etc.). Review the diligence reports to ensure that the key diligence findings are addressed appropriately
  • Work with the company management and advisors to understand past performance, strategy, outlook, regulatory and industry issues, and other relevant topics as required
  • Assist in drafting Investment recommendations memorandums as well as presenting investment recommendations to the CPPIB Investment Committees
  • Coordinate closing activities internally and externally

Monitor Investment Portfolio: 

  • Participate in discussions with management teams, coordinate with internal groups and the management as part of performance monitoring of existing investments
  • Identify and help implement performance and value creation initiatives at portfolio companies
  • Assist in preparing materials for asset monitoring sessions with senior management
  • Assist in carrying out year-end valuation of portfolio companies
  • Track market and regulatory developments impacting present and potential investments
  • Assist in building and leveraging relationships with portfolio company management teams as well as co-investors

Qualifications

  • Post Graduate degree such as MBA from leading Indian or global institution, Engineering background would be preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in Investment Banking / M&A
  • Strong quantitative, financial, and analytical skills
  • Extensive working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); In particular, proficiency in building, reviewing and auditing financial models in Excel is essential
  • Good communication skills (oral, written, presentation) and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in climate change / sustainability assessment would be preferred
  • Experience in compiling data and financial information using research resources (like Cap IQ, Factset, Mergermarket) and analytical tools (like Tableau) would be preferred
