QCELLS Enable is the EPC branch of Qcells for the Commercial, Industrial, Distributed Generation, and Small Utility Scale solar markets. Our mission is to provide world class design and installation of large-scale PV and ESS systems throughout the US.  Our position as a leading module manufacturer means we can offer end-to-end solutions for project developers and asset managers.  We are expanding our offerings and have several open positions currently in our Teaneck, New Jersey headquarters.
 
 
POSITION OVERVIEW 
The Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for handling all aspects of the civil design of projects from sales origination and bid set design through project design, permitting, and construction. This position is a shared resource for the entire company and serves as the ultimate technical authority on topics related to civil design and permitting. Further, this role will be responsible for providing technical mentorship to others in the company.
 
This position requires a comprehensive understanding of all civil engineering topics for bidding, permitting, specification, procurement, design, construction, close-out, and operation of a distributed generation solar photovoltaic power plant. The Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for technical signoff of all internal design drawings, 3rd party engineering, vendor shop drawings, bill of materials, installation methods, inspections, punch lists, and close-out documents. This position reports to the Director of Engineering, or another senior management personnel that the President of the Company may designate. 
 
This position is located in New York, New York (or New Jersey, NJ) and is expected to travel up to 20%.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage all stages of project civil design, including conceptual and advanced system design, observing regulatory codes, customer requirements, site visits, permitting and technical support during construction phase;
    • Design and optimize civil engineering concepts for medium and large scale PV plants such as internal road systems, grading design in Civil 3D, stormwater management, erosion control concepts, etc.;
    • Strong knowledge related to SWPPPs and stormwater permitting;
    • Lead the engineering team in developing best practices for the civil engineering process of medium and large scale PV plants;
    • Manage and coordinate external resources such as civil, geotechnical, and structural engineering consultants, as well as surveyors;
    • Supervise project implementation in collaboration with the Project Manager during planning and construction to assure quality and execution according to the contract;
    • Provide support to business development efforts in interfacing with potential and current customers;
    • Develop and review project schedules, cost estimation, bill of materials, budgets, scopes of work, standards and quotes from suppliers and civil sub-contractors;
    • Create, deliver, and maintain drawing packages and project documentation;
    • Direct internal and external designers and consultants in creating, delivering and maintaining drawing packages and project documentation;
    • Work collaboratively with other operations team members on project execution and process development including project procurement, construction management, and project controls;
    • Take a leadership role in the technical response to proposals to design and deliver photo-voltaic projects;
    • Assist with technical training for team members and new employees;
    • Collaborate with team members when necessary to ensure effective communication and results;
    • Lead members of the developing civil engineering team to effectively design and support the company’s projects and in their professional development.
    • Drive a culture of safety and ethics that embraces both a “responsibility to act” and “lead by example” approach;
    • Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position 
    • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering, or another related engineering discipline. 
    • Minimum of 5 years of professional engineering experience working in the civil industry
    • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience working with PV solar plants 
    • Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D (or equivalent)
    • Experience with HydroCAD (or equivalent)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present and explain complex information clearly 
    • Assertive, able to cope with pressure, a team player 
    • Ability to project manage multiple efforts 
    • Strong, self-motivated team player 
    • Strong Microsoft Office Skills

$125,000 - $145,000 a year
