Summer Waves is hiring for the 2024 summer season to work May through Labor Day. This is a seasonal position that can expect to work weekends and holidays. 
 
The Georgia coast's favorite water park, Summer Waves, welcomes families near and far, to cool off and cool down on our nine wet and wild rides. Jekyll Island is dedicated to maintaining the delicate balance between nature and humankind through conservation, education, and preservation. Surrounded by salt marshes, expansive oceanfront, and ancient maritime forests, it is situated within the chain of the Golden Isles, and just a few miles from St. Simons Island, Sea Island and Brunswick. As a State Park, Jekyll Island is a coastal haven where nature and humans peacefully co-exist. 
 
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, is responsible for performing a variety of housekeeping duties including cleaning, sweeping, polishing, waxing, washing windows, cleaning bathrooms, etc. to ensure Summer Waves buildings and public areas are neat and clean at all times. Responsibilities include pressure washing shelters, tables, walkways, etc, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the park. 
 
 Description: 
  • Maintains cleanliness of park, including but not limited to; gathering and removing litter, gather and empty trash, cleans and services restrooms, cleaning mirrors, floors, and sinks, and applying air fresheners.
  • Ensures mixture of water and detergents are accurate in preparing cleaning solutions according to specifications.
  • Ensures that adequate cleaning supplies are maintained. 
  • Ensures that the buildings/structures are cleaned and swept; clean fixtures throughout the buildings/ structures.
  • Pressure washing of shelters, tables and walkways. 
  • Assists in opening and closing duties including cleaning and putting away or putting out chairs and cleaning guest areas. 
  • Performs various custodial duties as determined and directed by the Operations Manager and/or Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Must be 16 years old. 
  • Cleaning experience a plus. 
  • Demonstrated ability to follow guidelines and work independently; must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively. 
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality for scheduled hours is required.
 
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Exert up to 80 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 
  • More than 50% of the typical work day will be spent climbing, balancing, stooping and/or crouching, kneeling, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling and repetitive motions of the wrists, hands or fingers. 
  • Between 25% and 50% of the typical work day will be spent crawling, walking and lifting.
  • Sensory abilities required are feeling, grasping and touching with more than 50% of the time spent talking and hearing.
  • Visual abilities to perform tasks required are determining the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.  
  • Required to perform in outdoor environmental conditions. Exposure to extreme heat, high humidity and occasionally adverse weather conditions as well occasional extreme cold.
  • Will be exposed to hazards such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to chemicals.
  • May be subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, oils, odors, dusts, mists, or poor ventilation.
  • May be subject to close quarters, shafts, enclosed rooms, and function in narrow aisles or passageways.
  • Noise levels are considered normal to loud.
