Job Description

We are looking for a Solar Operations Specialist to join our growing Energy & Renewables team. This person will join a growing team dedicated to renewable and sustainable initiatives across a large portfolio and footprint across the United States. They will be primarily responsible for supporting the ongoing success of our solar initiative, which includes monitoring hundreds of systems across the US to ensure optimal performance. The successful candidate will also support a variety of other energy data monitoring campaigns, strategic vendor relationships, and incentive programs in support of Public Storages overall strategic energy objectives. 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
System Monitoring

  • Continually monitor the operating solar systems to ensure optimal performance 
  • Track actual solar production against expected production
  • Understand system alerts and performance issues while considering all factors including system issues and local environmental conditions
  • Route all necessary WOs to approved vendors to address system issues timely and manage through to successful resolution 
  • Work with approved solar vendors to understand installation and PTO schedules to ensure all new systems are actively registered and visible in our monitoring system at PTO
  • Work with the Energy and Finance teams to ensure data is accurate and provide regular executive reporting on system status
  • Work with the acquisitions team to understand properties with existing solar systems and engage preferred vendor to install any equipment necessary and manage through to full visibility in our monitoring platform.

Manage O&M/Cleaning Contracts

  • Oversee all ongoing O&M and cleaning contracts for the operating solar portfolio
  • Continually analyze O&M vendor capabilities in various markets and recommend local vendors where appropriate for long term O&M, annual inspections, and servicing

Incentives

  • Awareness and intermediate understanding of the REC and incentive markets across the US
  • Register all properties with the relevant utility companies/AHJs once installations are generating power
  • Enter production data into AHJ/Utility portals at agreed intervals to register RECs
  • Track and monitor payments received REC sales, rebates, and other incentives

Community Solar

  • Lead ongoing coordination with active community solar contracts
  • Track and monitor payments received
  • Be a single point of contact for community solar vendors to coordinate site access. Route work orders as necessary to address issues that may be affecting community solar installations

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree preferred with 3+ years of experience in renewable energy industry.
  • Experience with MS Office and strong Excel skills required.
  • Experience with forecasting, planning and data analysis. 
  • Possesses strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask and operate in a dynamic & fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize on a continual basis.
  • Outstanding and proven ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively. 
  • Systems thinker with a high level of curiosity, excited to learn and keep up to date on renewable energy.
  • Self Motivated, positive, fun and winning attitude to get things done!
