Job Summary

The Director, Clean Energy Delivery, is responsible for planning, directing, and implementing solar energy construction projects and processes in a safe, timely, and environmentally conscious manner, in order to maintain and improve competitive position and profitability. The Director, Clean Energy Delivery will lead the CE Delivery team and play a vital role within Standard Solar’s organization. The Director is expected to draw upon a fundamental construction background and direct project management experience to lead the successful design, installation, and delivery of Solar PV and battery assets.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Member of leadership team involved in setting strategic goals for the organization and responsible for establishing project management practices to best meet the organization’s strategy.

· Be accountable to develop and successfully execute cost reduction programs through optimization of people, processes, and technologies.

· Provide strategic vision and initiatives to meet and exceed corporate delivery goals. Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to delivery team members and subcontractors on construction sites.

· Plan, organize, and assign delivery team to accommodate the specific project requirements.

· Responsible for project and risk management related to the execution of solar projects.

· Analyze and monitor budget versus actuals, delivery versus schedule, and make course corrections as required to meet corporate delivery goals.

· Cooperate with all other company departments to achieve corporate delivery goals.

· Ensure corporate/project policies and procedures are followed and make recommendations for optimization of these to the leadership team.

· Demonstrate leadership in safety, which requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, holding people accountable for safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behaviors which may lead to accidents.

· Perform all management duties including, but not limited to, budgeting, hiring, conducting performance reviews, coordinating and scheduling work, salary recommendations, discipline, ensure employees report to work fit for duty, leadership, grievance resolution, coaching & counseling.

· Ensure the timely preparation and distribution of construction reporting requirements and integration with project reports. Provide information and updates to COO.

· Responsible for meeting and exceeding annual delivery goals.

· Manage delivery team with safety and quality asset deployment in mind at all times.

· Overcome barriers to succeed through permit expedition, utility relations, contractor management, and focus on successfully achieving delivery goals.

· Ensure first-time Witness Test success on all mechanically complete assets.

· Achieve on time and on budget delivery for all assets.

· Empower delivery team leads to overcome schedule obstacles and support them to drive results.

· Oversee all subcontractors and EPCs to ensure the safe on time, on budget delivery of quality assets. Motivate delivery team to achieve results. Incentivize according to measurable, achievable, and agreed upon KPIs.

· Safely drive operational excellence and sustainability initiatives.

· Meet all reporting requirements from management and financial partners.

 

Education, Experience and Certifications :

· Education or experience equivalent to a 4-year degree from an accredited college or university.

· Five (5) years of commercial solar construction experience.

· Experience working with city/county permitting offices and inspectors.

· Must take and create accountability within the teams, closing each project efficiently whilst maintaining accuracy and strict attention to detail.

· Will report to the Rockville, MD office 5 days a week

· PMP (Preferred)

· OSHA certified (Preferred)

· Demonstrated financial skills such as the budget process, how to interpret and understand financial reports, and financial evaluations.

· Proven ability to establish and implement strategic plans and organization vision and mission.

· Demonstrated negotiation, problem solving and organizational skills.

· Valid driver's license.

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands

· Conducts work in both a field-type environment or in a professional office setting with local travel to jobsites to conduct inspections.

· Physical working conditions may involve the following:

o Lifting up to 50 pounds.

o Extended periods of being on an active construction site which may include, climbing ladders, standing or walking on uneven ground, and being exposed to outdoor climates.

o Extended periods of sitting, walking, standing, reaching, and/or bending.

o Extended periods of reading fine print on a computer or in paper-based format.
