Dispatch Manager
Description

Position Overview: The Dispatch Manager is responsible for leading and managing the rolling fleet to ensure maximum productivity, efficiency, and exceptional service delivery. This role involves coordinating drivers, optimizing routes, and overseeing the dispatch team to uphold high standards of customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record in fleet & driver management.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the rolling fleet operations, including assigning routes to drivers on a daily basis and optimizing routes for the upcoming days/weeks.
  • Oversee incoming calls and emails from customers and sales departments, ensuring prompt and courteous responses to requests for pick-up or delivery.
  • Coordinate driver movements in alignment with customer service requests to optimize service efficiency throughout the day.
  • Proactively initiate outbound calls to customers while drivers are on-site/location to resolve any issues or concerns.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve potential delivery and pick-up problems before they escalate into service issues, and communicate any issues to management.
  • Record and document information from drivers, ensuring timely distribution to the appropriate departments.
  • Ensure effective communication and transition of dispatch responsibilities between shifts.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of 7-8 direct driver reports, overseeing various reporting tasks including Route Audit Reporting, Daily Load Counts, Daily Truck Status, Customer Call Information, and Weekly Collections Information.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; further education or certification in logistics or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of waste and recycling operations experience, with a strong understanding of Frontload and Roll Off operations.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to exceed customer expectations.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a professional, courteous, and cooperative demeanor towards customers and team members.
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail to ensure efficient completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to adhere to company policies and safety standards, prioritizing the well-being of employees and assets.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday with weekend availability.
  • Flexible shifts: 10-hour or 8-hour shifts as required.
