Description:
Our Kanga Klimb Aerial Guides will facilitate opportunities for fun and adventure for our visitors at our Kanga Klimb Aerial Adventure Course. We are looking for engaging and dynamic team members with a passion to share their love of outdoor recreation and activities to join our team this season! Our guides are responsible for ensuring the safety of visitors and peer staff, motivating, inspiring all to challenge themselves on the course, and to have fun!
We are looking for individuals that have availability and anticipate working through the end of the season, 10/27/2024. The course will be open daily from 9am- 3pm, May 23rd- September 2nd, with operation on weekends and holidays from September 6th through October 27th. Additional operating days may be added in advance in April and May for events, after-hours events, trainings, and course previews.
Must be able to attend 1 of 2 Guide Trainings between May 6th- 15th and pass that training session via practical and written examination. Training sessions are 40 hours and are schedule for May 6th-10th and May 11th-15th. A supplemental ADA Training must be completed after passing the preliminary practical.
 
Job Duties:
  • Create genuine and memorable moments with our visitors as they work through over 50 aerial elements, across two levels ranging in degrees of difficulty
  • To bring positivity, energy, and fun to each day to create extraordinary experiences with our visitors and team
  • Ensure the safety of all visitors and peer staff while on the course and in the gear up area
  • Properly fit, train, coach, and monitor visitors in use of all gear required while on the course
  • Set the example by following all safety pre-cautions in accordance with the ACCT and course specific standards
  • Adapt quickly to changing situations on the course (extreme weather, emergencies, safety concerns) and ensure that visitors are always safe
  • Observe, report, and log daily facility conditions, safety concerns, issues regarding the course, equipment, and/or participants to the Course Manager
  • Properly maintain and take inventory of all equipment in line with usage, cleaning, and storage in correspondence with the manufacturer guidelines
  • Follow all opening and closing daily safety checks of equipment as well as the course itself
  • Assist with operations of other VE areas as required, such as but not limited to, parking lots, Turnstiles, Welcome Center, and hanging lights for FOL.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Previous ropes course and customer service experience preferred
  • Must be able to successfully complete all 40 hours of training along with the written and practical exams and an additional ADA Supplemental Training
  • Comfortable working outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
  • Must be comfortable with being in proximity with visitors of all ages to facilitate proper gear fitting as well as rescues on the course
  • Requires the ability to work in a physically strenuous environment for 8+ hours at a time where one might be sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, climbing and can lift/carry 40+ lbs
  • Must be comfortable at heights exceeding 30 feet
  • After training, employee must be able to rescue a 250 lb. person at height using a variety of rescue techniques
  • First Aid/CPR certified or obtained within the first 30 days
  • Blood Borne Pathogen trained or obtained within the first 30 days

Availability:  
  • Seasonal/non-benefitted.   
  • Variable hours can be between 15-40/week, not to exceed an annual average of 30 hours/week.  
  • At least 3 days per week, with a requirement of 1 weekend day (Saturday-Sunday)  
    • Students: If you currently attending classes, we will accept an availability for 2 days a week, with the expectation that it will increase to 3 days once classes are finished.  
  • Hours: Shifts range throughout the day from an 8am start time until an 8:30pm end time, with the majority of shifts in the 8am-5pm range.  
  • 5-8 hour shifts.
