Here's how a(n) Solar Superintendent for our US Head Office office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

  • Working with the Project Manager and Senior Construction Manager to implement PCL’s safety program and maintain safety and record-keeping requirements.

  • Supervising, directing, coaching, training, and mentoring members of the solar facilities project team, including direct and indirect reports.

  • Effectively communicating with subcontractors and ensuring that performance, productivity, quality, and safety requirements are met.

  • Effectively and consistently collaborating with Project Manager, Senior Construction Manager, Construction Managers and project team.

  • With a background in utility-scale solar projects, advising Project Manager and/or Senior Construction Manager of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc.

  • Liaising between Site Engineers, Design Engineers and Estimators to ensure solar farm construction complies with drawings and specifications as required.

  • Proactively contributing to the implementation of the Environmental Impact Strategy (EIS), Construction Environment Management Plan (CEMP) and resource-loaded three-week lookahead schedules.

  • Monitoring and executing the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and schedule.

  • Reviewing and understanding the prime contract and subcontracts, including understanding risk and risk mitigation plans.

  • Maintaining project administration correspondence and complying with documentation requirements relevant to utility-scale, solar project construction and construction projects.

  • Developing and maintaining strong customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.

  • Valuing and modeling the solution provider and profitability culture.

  • Implementing self-perform strategies to ensure project execution meets productivities and P&L.

  • Working directly with site Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, General Foreman and Foreman as it relates to but not limited to: scheduling, installation procedures, material management, client relationship management, crew management, labor strategy, site safety, site quality, subcontractor management, etc.

  • You will report directly to the onsite Project Manager. The Projects are typically Monday to Friday, 50 hours a week, with potential to work Saturday and Sunday pending the Project schedule.

  • Performing other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • A postsecondary diploma/engineering degree in a related discipline or relevant industry/trade background, not required.

  • 7 years of progressive experience in utility-scale, solar project construction.

  • 10 years of experience successfully supervising a construction workforce.

  • Knowledge of the construction industry (particularly in utility-scale, solar project construction) and company operations, including building materials, construction specifications, and methods and procedures.

  • Understanding of project scope and ability to apply basic engineering principles to resolve constructability challenges.

  • Understanding of project schedules and the ability to identify the critical path.

  • Knowledge and understanding of P6 scheduling software.

  • Understanding of self-perform productivity rates, subcontract productivity rates and Labor Cost Reports, and ability to interpret cost reports.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple scopes of a construction project, including scheduling, monitoring, and coordinating subcontractors with three-week lookahead schedules.

  • Understanding of material, labor, and equipment takeoffs relevant to utility-scale, solar project construction and generally.

  • Understanding of contract language with the ability to identify and mitigate risks and identify and leverage opportunities.

  • Knowledge of workplace health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) principles/procedures/legislation.

  • Ability to lead and run effective site meetings with client, consultants, subcontractors, and internal employees.

  • Demonstrated conflict-resolution skills, problem solving abilities, and professional judgment.

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.

  • Familiarity with and or ability to understand virtual construction software and tools.

  • Working knowledge of construction-related software.

  • Willing and able to Travel 75% - 100% of the time

  • OSHA 30, not required but a plus

The salary range for this position is between $125,000 and $160,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
