We are seeking a Solar Engineering Student within our Canadian Buildings Division – Toronto District to work on some of the most exciting projects currently underway specifically in the Greater Toronto Area. We are looking for students that are available for a minimum of 4 months starting in September 2022.

Responsibilities

As a Solar Engineering Student and depending on your assigned project, here’s how you will contribute to the team:

  • Project Coordination
    • Coordinates drawings and work specific scope / trades.
    • Conducts trade quote reviews – verify material quantities, verify hours, verify rates.
    • Gets the chance to actively participate in project meetings.
    • Conducts deficiency walks.
    • Inputs and updates deficiency logs and Issuing warranties.
    • Responsible for taking / coordinating progress photos and updating field drawings.
    • Produces as-built drawings.

 

  • Field Coordination
    • Performs quantity takeoffs and coordinating sub-trade work.
    • Verifies site conditions and coordinating with drawings.
    • Supervises sub-trade work.
    • Sets up / maintains record keeping.
    • Layout site lines and grades using total station.

 

  • Scheduling:
    • Has an opportunity to update project schedules and creating manual schedules.
    • Creates and updates schedules using Suretrak software.
    • Obtains scheduling information from sub-trades.
    • A chance to create and maintain graphical scheduling using AutoCAD.
    • Monitors Manpower productivity.

Qualifications

What you will bring to the role:

  • Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
  • Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.
