JOB SUMMARY:
The Jr. Estimator/APM is responsible for assisting his or her assigned Project Manager with overall turnkey management of specified commercial construction project(s). S/he may oversee multiple construction projects simultaneously, each at varying stages. The Jr. Estimator/APM will follow company procedures to facilitate and define project scope, as well as conduct post-project costs analysis. Using their financial expertise to prepare effective proposals in a deadline driven environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the entire procurement process by preparing and soliciting bid requests from subcontractors and vendors; daily phone calls to ensure accurate and best pricing options
Reviewing of proposal specifications, drawings to understand and determine scope of work and contents of estimate
Submitting requests for information to clarify existing conditions and proposed improvement, submission to responsible design professional in a timely manner
Ability to assist in quantity takeoffs, subcontractor bid package preparation, solicitation and scope review
Prepare accurate, detailed, quantity estimates, takeoffs and perform unit pricing, when required.
Reviews construction documents and understands scope of work to bid
Work to complete projects on time and within scope.
Perform additional tasks or functions in response to directions and priorities set by supervising manager.
Assist Project Manager to support Business Development Department with the following:
Perform site visit and constructability approach.
Develop project budget and estimates.
Develop proposal scope of work, milestone schedule, and overall project approach.
Assist and support Business Development team with proposal and presentation preparations.
Assist Project Manager with management of preconstruction and design development phase, including the following:
Provide constructability reviews of all plans and specification to achieve the most cost-effective project(s).
In coordination with the project team, develop project sequencing, logistics and mobilization plan.
Assist Engineering Department with interconnection paperwork.
Manage and obtain all required permits for construction.
Manage and prepare project bill of materials and ensure timely ordering of all major materials.
Manage and run all pre-construction meetings for both internal and external.
Other related tasks as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma and Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
Comprehensive knowledge of construction practices and skills.
Two (2) to Five (5) years of experience in construction management and/or electrical installation.
Strong background in electrical and construction services is preferred.
PMP and or NABCEP candidates preferred. If not possessed at time of hiring, NABCEP certification must be obtained within 2 years of employment.
First Aid, CPR and OHSA 30 certifications preferred. If not possessed at time of hiring, certifications must be obtained within 1 year of employment.
Strong organizational and communication skills required.
Strong working knowledge of Sales Force, Oracle, and MS programs including strong Excel back ground, and Microsoft Project are preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Conducts work in both a field-type environment or in a professional office setting with local travel to jobsites to conduct inspections.
Physical working conditions may involve the following:
Lifting up to 75 pounds.
Extended periods of being on an active construction site which may include, climbing ladders, standing or walking on uneven ground, and being exposed to outdoor climates.
Extended periods of sitting, walking, standing, reaching, and/or bending.
Extended periods of reading fine print on a computer or in paper-based format.
