As a Solar Superintendent your role will encompass the following:

POSITION SUMMARY:
  • Working onsite with the various union skilled trade crews and supervising subcontractors and union team members in the construction of Solar PV Array systems.  
  • Collaborating with the Area Manager, Project Manager, Project Engineers, and Lead Superintendent, this role is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the solar construction activities, focusing on Safety, Production, and Profitability.  
  • Supervisory responsibilities, in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, include: planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 
    • Responsibilities may include assisting with interviewing and training employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the overall onsite project team(s) in a positive, team-driven, results oriented manner.
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with clients and internal contacts to facilitate construction activities.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy.
  • Plan, organize, and staff key field positions through regional department heads, subordinate project managers, construction managers, etc.
  • Monitor/control construction to ensure project is built safely on schedule and within budget. Investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc.) to protect company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with clients.
  • Mentor and assist with career development of other team members.
  • Coordinate with back-office teams to provide support as needed for the onsite project teams.
  • Actively search for continuous improvements in project planning, processes, and execution.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

Education and Experience:
  • Possess a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management.
  • 10+ years experience with extensive knowledge of construction, design, finance, and management as well as proven leadership in a self-performing general contractor role required.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Must be able to understand, interpret, and consistently apply safety laws, company policies/standards, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities.
  • Must possess superior communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.).
  • Significant business acumen is required.
  • Ability to build trust and achieve results with clients and company team members.
  • Ability to plan strategically over the entire span of a project and foresee and mitigate obstacles to performance.
