Our Requirements:

We are looking for Carbon Project Manager in the combination of nature-based solutions and carbon offset with demonstrated work experience in the forestry sector to appraise carbon offset projects across the world. In this role, you are required to understand the GHG quantification process and design requirements of AFOLU projects under the accepted GHG programs, protocols, and methodologies (e.g., VCS, Gold Standard, etc.)


One is required to have knowledge of the typical GHG emissions/reservoirs: Carbon stocks in trees, shrubs, dead wood, litter, and soil carbon. Validate, verify, and express an opinion on the project documentation for the Quantification of soil organic carbon, dead wood and litter, and changes in soil organic carbon stocks; GHG emissions caused by the relocation (shift) of agricultural activities prior to the project. Designing and validating the calculations involved in estimating emissions reductions for forestry projects. Commitment to project specifications and applicable laws.


Key Responsibilities:

 

Responsible for the development and management of carbon projects under VERRA, Gold Standard, GCC, ICR, and other registries. The job will involve among other things,

  • Preparation and revision of Project Development Documents and Monitoring Reports
  • Calculation of carbon credits for any project (estimates)
  • Carrying out feasibility analysis/financial modelling for carbon projects
  • Provide guidance to clients on project design, verification and scaling up.
  • GHG accounting and carbon footprint estimations
  • Planning and execution of strategies to meet the objectives of the organisation
  • Training and skill development of interns and junior staff


The Carbon Projects will cover the entire methodologies developed by the major Carbon registries, but the focus will be on Nature Based Solutions. 


Qualification and Experience:

  • BTech/MTech/BSc/MSc/BBA/MBA in Forestry, Environmental Sciences, Climate change, Agroforestry, and related fields
  • Need Someone with an advanced degree in forestry, and natural resource management and at least four years of full-time relevant post-study work experience to understand Nature-based Solutions (NbS), carbon footprinting and calculation, project management, etc.


Essential Skills:

  • Required 4+ years of experience with Nature-based solutions, carbon offsetting, GHG emission, use of relevant methodologies, team handling, etc.
  • Proven experience in preparing, reviewing, and revising Project documents and monitoring reports.
  • Experience in liaising and coordinating with DOEs for validation and verification of carbon projects and carrying out any type of audit is a plus
  • Familiarity with UNFCCC, CDM, VCS, GS and other voluntary carbon registries and methodologies.
  • Good written and spoken English skills. A confident communicator, able to articulate technical arguments clearly and convincingly both verbally and in writing.
  • Logical, analytical thinking. Ability to review technical papers efficiently and summarise the salient points accurately.
  • Good general knowledge and interest in international developments in climate change, sustainability, and the environment.
  • Ability to travel for work to multiple sites.
  • Required knowledge of computers, MS office, and other app-based technologies
  • Technological knowledge of traceability, GIS, and mobile apps.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work individually and within a team
  • Passion for working on climate change.
  • Good understanding and a keen interest in environmental and social issues
  • Hands-on, practical, innovative
  • Taking initiative, proactive and positive attitude
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary and multicultural team
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work autonomously.
