Title: Technical Field Advisor & Blade Technician (Asia Pacific) Wind Turbine renewable energy

Responsibilities:

Working as part of the Asia Pacific Business Unit Wind Energy , acting as the wind Installation Advisor / Lead, you will advise the installation crew from offloading, preparation, and installation of wind turbines (preparation of main component, installation of main component and mechanical completion), make sure that the installation crew practice based on the wind turbine Client safety standard and support/ ensure for Zero Harm program, prepare all necessary equipment and tools needed during installation and solve any issue and concern arise during installation phase (erection, mechanical and electrical). You will be directly reporting to the site manager/ leader the progress on site, concern/ issue, and missing/ damage parts if any.

The Blade Technician tasks will include but not limited to the wind turbine blades internal and external inspections, defect analysis, documenting the findings, repair of fiberglass and composite blades, spinners, and nacelles from all categories. The blade inspection and repair activities take place both on tower or on the ground and sometimes Blade Platform or Rope Access will be involved. Apart from the main role of blade technician, the position will also be responsible for providing support in large component replacements of wind turbine and specific trouble shooting activities on site May develop multitask skill for as per assignment.

Areas of Responsibility

Technical Field Advisor tasks and responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Advise on tasks within the installation scope.
  • Handel and record tools, parts and other equipment as part of stock keeping duties.
  • Support orders, deliveries, missing parts, return of equipment from site to warehouse / tool department / another project.
  • Perform troubleshooting on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Inspect lifting equipment and ensure proper handling of any tools during construction.
  • Support returning of tools, equipment.
  • Ensure site related documents are available and followed at any time.
  • Mentor and share knowledge within area of responsibility.
  • Support on-the-job training as requested and maintain logbooks, where required.
  • Perform Snagging, Retrofits and NCR related tasks.
  • Keep records, maintain documentation and report as required by company policy.
  • Maintain and follow EHS procedures as required by company policy, including.
  • Comply with company required site documentation.
  • Report EHS related observation, accidents or near misses that occur on-site, and assist in case of investigations.
  • Be active part to improve health and safety of the team.
  • Perform daily toolbox talks ensuring that every member of the team is fully aware of the hazards associated with any given task.
  • Perform risk assessments for activities onsite.
  • Ensure all site activities are carried out as per technical specifications or as advised by the site manager/ leader.
  • Carry out inspections to ensure that procedures are being followed and witness key stages of the job, including measurements, major lifting activities and torque procedures.
  • Ensure that all necessary parts are available onsite, ordering any in a timely manner to prevent any delays due to delivery times.
  • Ensure any documents are completed and signed by the relevant authorities.
  • Attend customer site meetings to provide progress updates and discuss technical issues and solutions when required.
  • Record any extra work that may be involved during an outage, including timescales, equipment used and authorization from the customer.
  • Complete installation crew performance feedback and contribute to performance evaluations.
  • Training of client and/or subcontractor on installation manual of WTG.

Blade Technician tasks and responsibilities including but not limited to

  • Mainly be responsible for wind turbines' blade-related work including inspection, site repair, reporting and blade condition assessment.
  • Provide excellent and professional service to both internal and external customers.
  • Exhibit positive and courteous behavior and have good communication with customers, site personnel and team members.
  • Document all work performed including inspection, repair, timesheets, H&S and more.
  • Involvement in analysis of the issues of blades and related components such as blade bearing, LPS, joint bolts, etc.
  • Communication and coordination with subcontractors in sitework.
  • Attend meetings with client for blade related issues.
  • Utilizing blade platform, cherry picker, and rope access to repair blades.
  • Perform interior and exterior blade inspections.
  • Perform minor and major repairs on tower sections.
  • Perform minor and major composite repairs on blades.
  • Perform minor structural damage on blades.
  • Perform leading & trailing edge repairs and other typical types of repairs.
  • Perform spinners and nacelles repair.
  • Provide support in large component replacements of wind turbine on site.
  • Acts as part of a team to achieve safe and efficient operations.
  • Assist in mobilization of all repair equipment and materials to sites.
  • Assist in proper storage of repair materials and maintenance of equipment and tools.
  • Assist providing support in large component replacements of wind turbine and specific trouble shooting activities on site May develop multitask skill for as per assignment.
  • Another task as per assignment is to support construction.

Required Knowledge / Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent with solid technical competencies is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years site experience in relevant field (Preferably have relevant experience on SGRE turbines)
  • Have an extensive knowledge of technical processes and parts associated with the installation, trouble shooting of Wind Turbine and be able to participate in and/ or supervise outages.
  • Be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Strong sense of health and safety.
  • GWO certificates will be advantage.
  • Good IT Skills (Microsoft Office, Excel etc.)
  • Valid driving license
  • Able to work efficiently independently without direct supervision.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good work attitude, teamwork awareness, customer-oriented and safety-oriented sense.
  • Management/leadership skills as the position requires leading site installation team to complete the job at filed.
  • High mobility, willingness to learn, adapt and accept changing environment.
  • Ability to travel, willing to work in the field for longer time, adapting to flexible and variable work schedule.

Blade Technician qualification:

  • Having 2 years of hands-on wind turbine experience with at least 1 year performing composite/epoxy blade repair will be an advantage.
  • Must be safety conscious and have knowledge of fall protection and confined space safety procedures.
  • Understand technology of wind blade construction and repair.
  • Blade access platforms/cherry picker experience will be an advantage.
  • Rope Access Certification (IRATA/SPRAT) will be an advantage.
