The Michigan Out-of-Doors youth camp is a seven-week program hosted out of the Cedar Lake Outdoor Center in Chelsea, Michigan. Our goal is to connect our youth with their natural resources through environmental/ conservation sciences, outdoor recreation and sportsman's/women's heritage. This role is great resume builder for anyone interested in a natural resources/conservation related career.

Responsibilities:

  • plan nutritionally balanced meals (in accordance with state regulations and food licensing)
  • prepare each meal for 50 campers and staff
  • work with the Camp Health Officer to respond to special dietary needs of participants
  • stock kitchen with all food and equipment throughout the season
  • Train kitchen staff
  • provide weekly menus
  • clean and prepare food service areas for use and inspection

Requirements:

  • 18 or older
  • experience as a cook or assistant cook for large groups (preferred)
  • knowledge of standards of food preparation, serving and kitchen procedures
  • ability to work well with others
