As a manager you will make an impact on our growth ambitions through:

  • Engagement Management: Develop long lasting, strategic relationships with our clients by delivering work of exceptional quality. In addition, you will be responsible for managing the engagement planning and budget, creating structure and overview for team and the drafting the deliverables.
  • Client Management: manage interaction with clients and sponsors on a daily basis, advise clients on topics such as sustainability and risk management in the field of energy and commodity trading.
  • Business Development: build a strong network internally and externally, collaborating within the Deloitte internal network to create unique insights and contribute to eminence activities, lead the development of proposals and other collateral.
  • People Development: be a mentor and coach for the team, further strengthen the team through development and recruitment, recognize individual and team contributions, enable an inclusive team culture.

For the role of a manager within the ECT practice you also have:

 

  • MSc in a quantitative field – e.g. Energy economics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Engineering, Computer Science, (Applied) Mathematics, or similar degree etc.
  • 3+ yrs of experience in an energy or commodity trading environment (or related field), demonstrating:
    • Comprehensive understanding of trading risk management principles across market, credit, operational and liquidity risks.
    • Knowledge of typical risk management processes, controls and related governance in a trading organization, e.g. identification of key market risks, definition of risk appetite and limits, exposure measurement and monitoring, development and execution of risk management strategies.
    • Good understanding of energy and/or commodity markets (physical and financial); knowledge of power, natural gas, and/or carbon market design is a plus
    • Familiarity with developing, calibrating, back-testing, and operating market models and analysis tools in a trading environment
    • Familiarity with commodity price forecasting methodology
  • Ability to manage and mentor junior colleagues
  • Good communication skills and command of written and spoken English
  • Affinity with quantitative modelling and / or programming, and excellent analytical skills
  • Ambitious, independent, energetic and able to perform under pressure
  • A team player, contributing to a co-operative work environment

Commodity trading is a dynamic business, full of new opportunities, but also with complex and inter-connected risks and challenges. Ongoing volatility, the introduction of new commodity markets (i.e. carbon, hydrogen etc.), global skills shortages and evolving regulations drives the need for our clients to invest in developing new capabilities and relook at existing processes, data and systems.  As a manager, you will help shape the ECT practice by sharing your risk management and industry experience across a diverse range of clients, helping our clients navigate the energy transition and meet their decarbonisation priorities.

In addition to working on client projects, you will support in preparing proposals, client meetings /workshops, research and articles.
