Currently VARO Energy’s key economic drivers are its major downstream business in North West Europe. VARO refines, stores and distributes (bio)fuels for the European market. VARO has been a major player in the area of blending and trading sustainable biofuels for more than 10 years.

VARO Energy has a large and expanding asset base. The group owns a refinery in Switzerland, a majority share of a refinery in Germany, more than 50 (bio)fuels storage facilities throughout Switzerland, Germany, France and the Benelux and has the logistical expertise and infrastructure to transport products from the refineries and the terminals to its customers..

We are looking for a Renewables Accounting Employee to join the Renewables Compliance Team of VARO in Rotterdam. In this role you are responsible for the administration of sustainable specific information and documentation relating to biofuel transactions. This involves both qualitative and quantitive aspects (non-financial). In this context you bring an important contribution to VARO’s compliance with the obligations under the legislation regarding the incorporation of renewable energy in fuels.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


- Assessing the conformity of received sustainability documentation to regulatory requirements, commercial agreements and physical receipt of the biofuel.

- Preparing and issuing of sustainable documentation to customers.

- Followup correct and timely receipt and issuing of sustainable documentation.

- Updating biofuel administrations with incoming and outgoing sustainability documentation. The content of these documents is based on the regulatory requirements and the internal procedures adopted.

- Maintain contact with biofuel suppliers and customers which VARO engages business with related to sustainability documentation.

- Maintain contact various departsments with VARO’s organisation with regard to complete, timely and correct receipt of sustainable documentation.

- Issuing of sustainable documentation to national authorities needed for periodic declaration.

- Participate in regulatory audits.

YOUR PROFILE

In order to fulfill the role the ideal candidate meets the following criteria:

  • Bacherlor degree for starters or MBO+>5 years experience

  • Affinity with MS office and ERP systems

  •  Affinity or a demonstrated interest in sustainability

  • Excellent command of Dutch and English language, both written and verbally, German and/or French language skills are considered to be an advantage

  • Experience with and/or knowledge of the transportation fuels market is considered an advantage

FURTHER COMPETENCIES

In order to comply with the content of the job the ideal candidate has quantitative skills, is highly accurate and is able to understand qualitative information in relation to sustainability criteria. 

We are looking for a responsible and accurate teamplayer, who can present themself as a pro-active and work result-oriented person. We also need someone with a critical mindset and a desire for continuous improvement and adding value. 

In this role you will be trained to become an experienced Renewables Accounting Employee with matching responsibilities. You will join a experienced Renewables Accounting team and report to the Renewables Compliance Officer Benelux as part of the Renewables Compliance team which is represented in VARO offices in Rotterdam Netherlands and Hamburg Germany.
