Scope of Position

EDF Renewables North America (EDFR) is a market-leading independent power producer and service provider with over 35 years of experience. We deliver grid-scale power: wind (onshore and offshore), solar photovoltaic, and storage projects; distribution-scale power: solar and storage; asset optimization: technical, operational, and commercial expertise to maximize the performance of generating projects, and onsite solutions, through the Company’s PowerFlex affiliate, offering a full suite of onsite energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers: solar, storage, EV charging, energy management systems, and microgrids.

 

The Director leads and mentors the Project Engineering Manager (PEM) group. Utilizes expertise in project engineering to set the group’s priorities and direction and execute project strategy and design. Additionally, performs PEM tasks on assigned projects and additional engineering assignments. Liaise regularly with other interdepartmental leads and report key findings to senior management.

 

Responsibilities

50% Team Management, Goal Setting and Reporting

 

  • Manage team efforts and prioritize based on impact and value to the business.
  • Mentor other PEM’s.
  • Set achievable milestone timelines for the team to ensure progress on project execution and key/long lead time items. Collaborate with regional leads.
  • Lead key project decisions and report conclusions to key stakeholders and management. Drive corresponding follow up actions within the organization.
  • Disseminate critical project information over the entire group.
  • Define the team’s strategy and direction by assessing company needs and through collaboration with team members, interdepartmental leads, and stakeholders.
  • Lead the development of individuals, and the PEM group, toward increasing their impact on EDFR projects including holistic engineering and broadening expertise.

 

 

35% Project Engineering Management

 

  • Responsible for coordinating engineering of projects, including but not limited to.
  1. Preliminary engineering design for both Balance of Plant and High Voltage. Manage the engineering design process and design reviews from 10% through IFC.
  2. Coordinate engineering studies with SME’s and the project team (e.g., Geotech, Hydro, Lidar, Power Flow, Interconnection etc.).
  3. Coordination with other teams both internally and externally. Problem solves and lead resolution of changes.
  4. Perform value engineering activities.
  5. Maintaining the project engineering tracker accurately and up to date, including communication with key stakeholders. Ensure project alignment.
  • Support and lead the engineering for the EPC RFP process.
  • Works closely with and drives engineering for project management, preconstruction, and construction teams. Summarize risk analysis and present findings.
  • Participates in project reviews led by the Phase Leader.
  • Responsible for project engineering handover.
  • Manage the project lessons learned process. Incorporate into future projects

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical engineeringMasters Degree preferred. 
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience with minimum of 7 years in large scale renewable energy projects.   
  • Experience with Wind, PV and BESS grid scale projects. Experience with Hydrogen projects is a plus. 
  • Successful track record in managing several projects from implementation, throughout construction until COD. 
  • Requires diversified knowledge of relevant codes (e.g. IEEE, UL, NFPA, IEC), standards and engineering principles.  
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel and MS Project 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

 

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal communication and management skills.  
  • Must possess the desire and capability to constantly learn and digest advanced concepts in engineering, programming, and mathematics, be able to work well with cross-functional teams, a strong desire for problem solving and deriving engineering solutions independently, have proven organizational skills with the ability to handle and lead multiple concurrent projects, track progress, and provide updates as necessary.
  • Ability to perform quantitative and qualitative analysis. 
  • Successfully work with contractors, vendors, and consultants. 

 

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50lbs.  

 

Working Conditions:

Approximately 80% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. Approximately 20% of time is spent outside of the office visiting vendors’ and/or sites in addition to attending various conferences and meetings.    

 

This role’s annual base salary range is between $148,000 and $225,000.
