JOB TITLE: Researcher / Systems Engineer - Photovoltaic Power

LOCATION: Bethesda, Maryland

CLEARANCE: TOP SECRET with CI polygraph required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Attend meetings, workshops, conferences and testing events as a Subject Matter Expert.
• Assist with the development of presentations such as Program Management Reviews.
• Serve as a Liaison between Performers, Test & Evaluation contributors, Government and Transition partners.
• Review, provide analysis, and make recommendations concerning technical reports, data and Performer approaches.
• Examine data sources and literary sources for emerging technology related to the Program. 
• Provide technical support and expertise on new concepts beyond the Program within areas of expertise.

REQUIRED EXPERTISE:

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, physics, or closely related field;
  • 5+ years’ post-graduate technical experience in power systems, PV devices, semiconductors, power electronics, or closely related field;
  • In depth technical knowledge of one or more PV system components, including PV materials or device engineering, semiconductors, power electronics, optical system design, performance modeling, and heat transfer;
  • Experience performing physics-based computational modeling/simulation to aid with component and/or system design and/or performance analysis;
  • 3+ years’ project management experience and proficiency in project management principles relevant to government research and development programs, including creating program plans, work breakdown structures, and milestone schedules;
  • 3+ years’ experience in system integration for research and development prototyping;
  • Ability to proactively manage multiple, concurrent tasks;
  • Excellent writing and editing skills. Ability to develop succinct, comprehensive, understandable documents using complex data from multiple sources;
  • Excellent slide deck development skills. Able to visually communicate complex ideas at a high level for technically savvy, but non-expert audiences.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and time management skills. Must be detail oriented.
  • Hold an active TOP SECRET with CI Polygraph clearance.
  • Provide writing sample to demonstrate the ability to communicate technical content (The sample may not be from a co-authored paper. As an example, the writing sample may be from a technical memo, technical email, thesis, or originally generated).
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in space systems engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, physics, materials science/engineering, chemistry as relevant to the development and integration of photovoltaic and/or power systems into spacecraft, or closely related field of research.
  • Experience performing or utilizing the results from accelerated lifetime and/or environmental durability testing to further research and development objectives.

DESIRED EXPERTISE:
• Space based power experience.
