Description

 

Hands-on leadership position with direct responsibility for production operations including line quality and testing. This position will require an experienced process and safety-driven operations leader, preferably with an electromechanical manufacturing background. Consistently manages operations to deliver products on time, financial results on budget, and with a “safety first” mindset. Ensure customer satisfaction through superior quality and responsiveness. Focus on the attainment of business plan growth/profit objectives. Provides direction, structure, and coaching to direct reports. Works closely with other company department leaders to promote effective communication of operational plans and their execution.


Responsibilities:

  • Safety: Champions safety rules and safe practices throughout the plant. Reports injuries and maintains accurate records. Leads team to achieve and maintain; 
  • No near misses,  No safety violations, No missed work due to injuries, No unsafe work practices observed,  No violations regarding failure to wear Personal Protective Equipment( PPE) when appropriate
  • Productivity: Plans, organizes, and directs the production team to ensure the most effective utilization of all resources
  • Cost: Initiates plans and processes that minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, material, and capital.
  • Manage labor in an efficient and cost-effective   manner while still meeting all shipping commitments
  • Planning: Sets daily production dispatch plans and overall training needs for the production teams.  Provide work direction to non-direct reports assigned to/matrix to support the plant manufacturing operations
  • Quality: Assures attainment of Operations Team objectives and production schedules while ensuring product standards that will exceed customer expectations
  • Understands and supports quality policies and implements guidelines to assure adherence to quality documents, work instructions, and Dwg. files
  • Leadership: Establishes assignments and accountabilities for the local operations team
  • Leads the incorporation and execution of Lean objectives and processes.  Implements manufacturing strategies and actions          that support the company’s strategic initiatives (Lean and CI)
  • Meets with team members on a daily basis to review the SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost) boards plus reports on progress during the daily Gemba walk.
  • Ensures proper execution of the 5S program to include daily standard work completion, completion of daily audits, reporting of daily audits, and corrective action implementation to correct deficiencies. 
Specific:
  • Provides leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility.
  • Works closely with quality personnel to review product consistency while monitoring CONC (Cost of Non-Conformance) metrics to determine trends and areas of improvement.
  • Review established production schedules for all manufacturing departments to ensure established objectives are achieved.
  • Coordinates the hiring and training of all manufacturing personnel. Capacity planning.
  • Monitors operation expenses and research / implement ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality.
  • Ensures all members of the manufacturing team are aware of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for our employees.Maintains Inventory levels and control the flow of product.
  • Maintains and supports a superior safety and housekeeping program, including all timely communication initiatives.
  • Analyzes workforce requirements.
  • Conducts performance appraisals and provides coaching and guidance to all operations employees..
  • Removes waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity.



Requirements

Qualifications:

  •  5 +  years of progressive experience in a management role at a manufacturing facility. MTO preferred. Highly motivated, results-oriented, and driven.
  • Previous experience/strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices.
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access) to analyze data and trends.
  • Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as; Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean manufacturing, etc. to drive improvement.
  • Previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate people, and assess and develop employee skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability.
  • Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated capability to interpret data and trends and develop action plans. 
  • Experience working in a "high-speed", flexible, and agile production line in a Lean Mfg. environment·
  • Clear and positive verbal and written communication skills in person, on the phone, and by email.
  • Successful track record of leadership, and calmly resolving conflict while promoting teamwork and positive relationships
EducationFour-year degree in an engineering-related field or associate’s degree in an engineering or business administration discipline with 5 years of experience in a manufacturing operations environment.
Reporting Line: This position reports to the Vice President of Operations
