Key Responsibilities

 

  • Conduct fundamental and technical analysis of US carbon and renewable energy markets and identify key drivers that impact carbon and Renewable Energy Credit (REC) pricing and supply and demand 
  • Develop and maintain US REC and carbon market models to forecast price trends and identify market opportunities 
  • Collaborate with the trading and sales teams to develop and execute carbon and REC trading strategies based on market fundamental and technical indicators 
  • Provide regular market updates to the trading team and other stakeholders within the company 
  • Analyze pricing, liquidity, and transaction data and identify market trends and pricing drivers 
  • Support ad-hoc impact assessments and analysis related to carbon and REC market and trading strategies

Key Requirements

 

  • 5-7  years of experience in the U.S electric power, gas, energy, renewable, and/or carbon sector
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of carbon and renewable energy economics, electric energy systems, power/REC/carbon markets, and energy/environmental policy and regulation
  • Commercial experience in US RECs, power, carbon, and/or gas markets
  • Advanced quantitative skills including statistics, multi-variate analysis, modeling, and forecasting
  • Ability to characterize and systematically analyze nuance and uncertainty
  • Ability to independently complete complex research and analysis projects, synthesize results, and communicate clear and concise findings verbally and in written reports
  • Expertise in quantitative tools, applications, and programming languages (Python, VBA, SQL, NoSQL, Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred

Compensation and Benefits

STX intends on offering the selected candidate a competitive base salary within the range of $120,000-$180,000, based on a number of objective factors such as relevant experience, holistic skillset, and applicable licenses and certifications. The candidate may also be eligible for discretionary compensation as determined annually within the company fiscal year.
