The Vice President, Origination is responsible for driving renewable natural gas (RNG) opportunity origination activities consistent with Terreva’s strategic and financial objectives. This position will develop and maintain partner relationships in order to identify, qualify, pursue, and secure new RNG project opportunities. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Identify, research and originate RNG development opportunities supporting Terreva’s platform growth across North America
    • Develop and maintain relationships with potential counterparties and industry partners
    • Prepare and give presentations to prospective clients, internal executives, and shareholders
    • Build, maintain and track qualified opportunities through sales pipeline
    • Track and respond to requests for proposal for RNG project development
    • Manage internal team activities in pursuit of each opportunity
    • Lead negotiation, in concert with Terreva management and outside legal counsel, of gas rights and other long-term commercial agreements
    • Participate in technical advancement and preliminary engineering of potential solutions
    • Work with project development team to develop detailed budgets and timelines for each opportunity
    • Participate with Terreva leadership team to raise equity and debt for new projects & investments
    • Travel up to 25-50% of time to opportunity locations across North America

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Assess and comment on current RNG market conditions affecting business development

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: (including certification, licenses, etc.)

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business related fields
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant business development experience
    • Demonstrated success in business-to-business (B2B) sales
    • Extensive experience in renewable energy and/or complex projects involving substantial investment & construction
    • Direct experience working with public entities (counties, cities & regional authorities)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Demonstrated mastery of the nuances of the renewable energy industry; familiarity with carbon accounting, RFS/LCFS programs, renewable gas standards, and renewable gas voluntary attributes a plus
    • Working knowledge of project finance
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Excel and project financial modeling a plus
    • Strong familiarity with the landfill industry; wastewater management industry a plus
    • Effective communication skills, both written and oral, and strong attention to detail
    • Excellent proposal development and presentation skills
    • Ability to work independently and proactively evaluate, address opportunities
    • Capable of prioritizing and performing job functions with minimal supervision
    • Ability to evaluate site conditions for project constructability
    • Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
    • Proven track record demonstrating a success-oriented mindset, motivated by the challenge of winning in a highly competitive market
