Solar Development Manager

UK Based

 

The Solar Development Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of solar energy projects from conception to completion. This role involves coordinating various teams, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimizing project timelines, and driving the successful execution of solar development initiatives. The Solar Development Manager plays a critical role in expanding the organization's renewable energy portfolio and contributing to a sustainable future.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Project Planning and Strategy:
    • Develop comprehensive project plans, outlining project scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project goals and align them with the organization's strategic objectives.
    • Identify potential project risks and devise mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
  2. Site Identification and Acquisition:
    • Lead the identification of suitable sites for solar energy projects based on factors such as solar resource potential, land availability, and regulatory considerations.
    • Oversee site acquisition activities, including negotiations, due diligence, land leases, and legal agreements.
  3. Permitting and Regulatory Compliance:
    • Manage the permitting process by working closely with local authorities, environmental agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to solar energy projects.
  4. Financial Analysis and Budgeting:
    • Conduct financial analysis, feasibility studies, and cost-benefit assessments to evaluate the economic viability of solar projects.
    • Develop and manage project budgets, monitoring expenses and identifying opportunities for cost optimization.
  5. Project Development and Construction:
    • Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams including engineers, designers, contractors, and consultants throughout project development and construction phases.
    • Ensure timely procurement of equipment, materials, and services required for project implementation.
    • Monitor construction progress, quality control, and safety protocols to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  6. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Foster positive relationships with local communities, landowners, regulatory authorities, and other relevant stakeholders to address concerns and facilitate project acceptance.
  7. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, permits, technical specifications, and progress reports.
    • Provide regular updates to senior management on project status, potential risks, and mitigation strategies.
  8. Renewable Energy Market Trends:
    • Stay up to date with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes affecting solar energy development.
    • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement within the organization's solar development processes.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, economics, Technical, Law, or a related field
  • 4-5 years’ experience in energy sector or project related environment
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally when required and work flexibly with hours.
  • Familiarity with the authorization process for zoning, environmental/ building codes, and land/ grid
  • connection conditions.
  • Ability to assess energy projects from an economical and legal perspective.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively approach stakeholders.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP systems.
  • Language capabilities: English and any other language an asset.
