Why this is a big deal...
The Solar Construction Intern will support GRID Alternatives Colorado in executing its solar installation projects.  Over the course of 12 weeks, the intern will learn about solar technology, the solar industry in the US and in Colorado, and solar installation techniques.  This will be accomplished through a combination of on-site and warehouse/office responsibilities. The Solar Construction Intern will be working with and supervised by Shravan Joshi (Residential Solar Installation Supervisor) and Mario Braxton (Residential Program Manager).
 
The Opportunity…
  • Assist Construction staff at installations of solar electric systems
  • Assist Construction staff in staging, loading, and unloading equipment at construction warehouse
  • Assist as needed with solar workshops and volunteer events
  • As needed, print, scan, photocopy, and file documents
  • Adhere to all organization safety rules and regulations

*Hired CA candidates must be able to pass a screening for drugs that are illegal in the state of California, including: amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, opiates, and PCP.
 
Where you will sit & the places you may go…
This position may require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects in the Denver, CO region. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required.
 
GRID Alternatives provides vehicles for work travel,  we may also require limited personal vehicle use. In the latter instance, GRID will provide travel reimbursement for work-related personal vehicle use in accordance with our payroll schedule. Additionally, all applicants who will be using a personal or GRID vehicle for work-related travel will need a valid driver's license and a good driving record (or be in the process of obtaining a license) to be considered. Applicants who will not be using a personal or GRID vehicle for work-related travel will not be subject to this requirement.

This is a PAID INTERNSHIP position. Hourly pay will be $19.50 per hour for an estimated 480 hours over the full 12-week period.
