PowerGen Renewable Energy is creating an African energy system that utilizes clean, renewable energy and smarter grids to deliver power to all. We are a leading renewable utility and grid management company across Africa.

Job Description

  • Prospect for, identify, develop and close new business opportunities
  • Create appropriate, productive long-term relationships with key stakeholders including the Ministry of Energy, Regulators and national utilities in our respective countries
  • Promote the PowerGen solution to prospective customers, partners and sponsors through a combination of proactive business development, relationship building, thought leadership, networking, conference attendance, etc. 
  • Successfully develop through our Development Roadmap, incl. the required approval gates, documentation, and hand-overs.
  •  Work with colleagues to continuously improve our development process, our commercial and technical solutions (incl. LCOE, alternative generation sources, new type of grid projects, etc.), and to ensure a smooth transition into operations
  •  Lead, manage and develop the BD team in SL

Qualifications

  • Passionate about transforming the power sector on the continent and providing clean, reliable and affordable power to millions of people
  • Strong ability to build relationships with governments and power utilities and a clear understanding of what a sales process would entail with such counterparts
  • More than 7 years BD and/or project development experience in Sierra Leone
  • Strong understanding of the African power sector, preferably within the generation, distribution or retail segment
  • Basic understanding of technical issues within the power sector
  • Experience developing and implementing 3-5 year Business Development strategies including KPI setting, resource plans, team training
  • Collaborative team player with demonstrated experience working effectively across teams
  • Preferred:
  • Experience developing large MW-scale solar and/or metro-grid projects in Africa
  • Basic understanding of project finance
