Duties of Position:  Harper College is seeking applicants who can provide training regarding Solar PV technologies, protocols, and best practices. Topics covered include PV application, design, installation, operation and maintenance. Instructor will design, develop and maintain course curriculum toward industry-recognized credentials and certification (i.e. NABCEP Solar PV Associate).

  • Conduct online and on-site training for solar photovoltaics technology, processes, and related subject areas

  • Evaluate student performance and record grades

  • Ensure students who successfully complete programs receive digital badge and access to certification and career resources

  • Support the development of related Continuing Professional Education courses in accordance with industry certification requirements.

The Career and Technical Programs department offers non-transferable credit courses in career development, computer training and healthcare through Continuing Professional Education (CPE). CPE courses are short-term trainings that are completed within one semester. We continually accept proposals for new courses leading to a career. 

Educational Requirements:  A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required with a focus on solar photovoltaics, alternative energy, sustainability, natural science or related field.

Experience Requirements:  At least two years of professional experience in the alternative energy industry including solar, wind, construction and installation, electrical, and/or energy auditing. Knowledge of safety practices in professional settings. Experience teaching adults.

Preferred Education and Licensure: Master’s degree in alternative energy/sustainability or related fields as well as certification/licensure including NABCEP Solar PV Associate, PV Installation Professional or other NABCEP or industry-recognized certification.
