AECOM is currently seeking to recruit a Principal Civil Engineer to join the Renewables and Energy Transition Team.
You will be responsible for undertaking a technical role on projects within our energy business; typically, our projects are associated with the generation, storage, transmission and distribution of energy both in the UK and countries throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
We require a chartered engineer (or close to chartership) with a strong technical capability and a keen interest in how the renewable energy sector needs to evolve to support a low carbon future.
Our key focus is on the developing markets of energy estates, renewable energy technology, integrated power and LNG to power.
As well as taking on the challenge of designing the civil infrastructure for these projects, you will also be encouraged to develop a knowledge of emerging low carbon, renewable energy, technologies within the sector and build strong and lasting relationships with our clients through the work you carry out.
To undertake the role successfully you will need to demonstrate:
A mindset that consideration of safety, health and the environment is central to every decision we make;
The ability to problem-solve and develop innovative solutions to meet the needs of our clients;
Excellent communication skills and the ability to listen and understand the needs of our clients;
Technical expertise and the capability to devise practical and cost-effective engineering solutions;
A good working knowledge of commercial design software and digital technologies.
The Role:
As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will be required to:
Liaise with clients, manage project work on a day to day basis and ensure that the work is delivered within the agreed timescale and budgets;
Understand how to complete the design of civil elements such as roads, drainage and general infrastructure associated with external works;
Undertake site inspections, inspect works and respond to technical queries raised by the Site Team;
Write reports including technical feasibility studies, building inspection reports and design reports;
Direct members of staff and mentor graduate engineers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Previous experience of working on National Grid, SSE or other UK utility projects would be advantageous.
Ideally you will have a background in civil infrastructure and the energy sector and in particular renewable energy systems.
The role is a technical role and you will be expected to demonstrate a high degree of technical competency in the design of civil and structural elements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering Chartered status or actively working towards chartership with either the Institution of Civil or Structural Engineers.
