Job Description Position Overview The Associate, Market Risk Analytics will report to the Manager, Market Risk Analytics and will be responsible for supporting market risk reporting and analysis across Invenergy’s global renewable and thermal generation portfolio. The role will identify, measure, and report on levels of market risk and analyze the market risk impacts of changing markets, positions, and/or strategies. The role will be required to learn and understand the Allegro ETRM system, use strong analytical skills to build and maintain scalable Microsoft Excel and PowerBI reports (SQL based) to deliver relevant market risk data to stakeholders, and perform ad-hoc analysis to measure and optimize the market risk levels of Invenergy’s thermal and renewable assets. Responsibilities Analyze and stay apprised of global energy market trends and regulations Learn and understand the data structure and underlying concepts of trades, asset valuations, and VaR evaluations in the Allegro ETRM system (SQL database) Coordinate with the Risk and Trading Systems teams to ensure accuracy and integrity of the necessary pricing data used in the Allegro ETRM system valuations Utilize existing tools, and lead in the development of new tools, to monitor volatility, VaR, and other risk metrics of new and existing trading positions to ensure market risk levels are fully understood, captured, and challenged where necessary Perform scenario analysis and stress testing on the portfolio, providing recommendations when appropriate Understand and explain changes in asset valuations and market risk levels Build and maintain scalable and automatic risk reporting templates (Excel & PowerBI) to deliver required information from the Allegro ETRM system to stakeholders Collaborate with the Trading Systems team in the setup, configuration, and implementation of new assets into the Allegro ETRM system Prepare ad-hoc forecasts and analyses as needed Participate in other projects related to market risk management and reporting as requested Required Skills Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics) 3+ years of experience in energy, utilities, or related industry. Experience in a trading environment with an ETRM such as Allegro preferred. Excellent analytical, quantitative, and modelling skills with strong attention to detail Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel Experience with Power BI/Tableau report writing and troubleshooting, and SQL programming Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills Curiosity and self-starting attitude to learn about energy markets/trading with ability to learn new concepts quickly General understanding of financial, commodity and energy markets, derivative instruments, and hedging techniques Understanding of basic risk concepts such as volatility, correlation, and VaR Ownership of and follow-through on commitments, with a demonstrated ability and desire to continuously improve Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as in a team environment Benefits Eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401(k), bonus, paid time off, etc. Invenergy LLC is an equal opportunity employer.
