Job Description Position Overview The Staff Engineer, Renewable Procurement will be responsible for assisting in the formation of Invenergy’s Solar procurement strategies through the technical evaluation of multiple Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Modules, Inverters, and Racking/Tracker technologies. The position will be based in either Chicago, Illinois or Denver, Colorado and will require travel up to 25% of the time. This role reports to the Manager of Renewable Procurement. Responsibilities: Perform technical due diligence on Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Module, Inverter, and Racking/Tracker technologies to qualify vendors and products, and to evaluate for implementation in Invenergy’s solar development and construction projects. Coordinate with suppliers to review product development, research and development (R&D) programs, and projected technology roadmaps. Translate supplier technology roadmaps for internal project planning, such as evaluation for site designs and/or in performance modeling exercises. Coordinate with suppliers, testing laboratories, independent engineering firms, and other third-parties to perform performance and extended reliability testing of products. Review and maintain database of supplier production and Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) programs. Collaborate with procurement, project engineering, project estimating, pre-construction, construction, and operations teams to analyze procurement options and to support equipment sourcing recommendations that best position Invenergy’s pipeline of solar projects for execution. Support origination and pre-construction teams reviewing off-take requirements and specifications for major equipment. Collaborate with construction and operations teams to bring lessons learned feedback into future technical specifications and project/portfolio sourcing strategy. Support procurement efforts in executing equipment supply agreements. Required Qualifications: Relevant Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physical sciences, or related technical discipline. 0 to 3 years of experience in the renewable energy industry and demonstrated interest in the field. Understanding of product design, manufacturing processes, and supply chains. Data analysis and visualization skills. Ability to multi-task and manage multiple deliverables and projects concurrently. Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills. Desire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with multiple interests and backgrounds. Domestic travel required with potential for international travel. Driver’s license required.
